Default Losi night crawler/ comp crawler axle housings

The newest worm gear axle hop up for the losi platform is now available. Standard kits will be for 10mm od tubes. $10 usd for custom sizing. (I would have to create a new file set for your custom order. Your parts would also be added to the shapeways store for possible future orders from you. $10 dollar custom size fee is not refundable.)

(edit) Due to lack of time for prepping housing kits and packing hardware I have opened up a shapeways store. (edit)

International shipping is possible.

Stock upper link mount fits these axle housings!

I am leaving it up to the builder to supply thier own axle tubing. Some may want a different size tubing than others. Same with width, castor, center or offset pumpkin.

I would like to touch subject on the plastics. These parts have a really really tight tolerance. No need for a easy fitting product.. I do not want to see axles twisting or folding over time. The chub mounts are tight, the link mounts are tight, the bearing pockets are fixed.

The housings are flipable, meaning you can keep the dirt out of your hex screws, and quite possibly build a multi axle rig (3+ axles) if you would like to take on that challenge.

A how to will be posted up within a month.

If you would like a few pointers or tips, i can help you out.

Last two pictures are of my own personal parts on my current superclass crawler build.

Precisely. Just need to silver solder a shaft back in it. With a super tight fit of course.

My buddy did it once before. I think he let the gearset go though. Somebody has it... Just dont know who.

Oh my...These are cool.

How tough is the 3d printed material compared to the stock parts? I have broken the stock housing in just about every way possible.

I'm most proud of this carnage though.

The housings I designed are thicker in every direction except where the housings taper off. Thay are stronger. But that comes with how thick they are. My super losi housings barely flex.

I'd be proud of that carnage too! Thats one heel of a break I have never seen before.

Just checked to see how sales are going on shapeways. I had seen that the housing wasn't printable? "dyable" So I am currently working on the file now and will have it back up tomorrow in the evening.

yeah, more work than im willing to take on currently.

there was a mfg that made some, not modified them, so i try searching for them occasionally. im at the point i can make a 1:1 "t-case" work.

keep up the great work CM!

I think I need these!!! But they would be for my C2 scale crawler. Is it possible to buy the 3D files? I work with Fusion360 and would love to make a full housing that will take axial Chubs and have a pan hard bar.

Also would you know if the shaft output from the diff is the same diameter as the axials? I haven't had a chance to take mine apart yet and it would make adding a set of KYX portals that much easier.

PSS. Have you tried printing your parts with and FDM printer? I feel like the SLS shapeways uses would be best, but if I can get away with using my Prusa i3 and not have to wait on the mail.....

my chub mounts are made for the Axial AR60 / XR10 splined chubs.

I have a file for the panhard mount, and a 3rd upper link mount. I just have not printed them yet as I am still working on my C3 project and have products not yet released and still in development.

the axle tangs are way different. you can add material to the stock axial shafts, or buy a set of builders shafts from dlux fab and make your own.

I do not own a 3d printer. I'm sure the tolerances would need to be worked on as my files are set for shapeways sls printers, not FDM.

I'm sorry, but my files are not for sale. If I released my files there is a risk of my parts being copied.

Darn that's a shame, all good though, I completely understand. I will just have to design and print from the ground up. Let me know if you change you're mind! Good luck I love what you're doing!

Also what's an axle tang? I googled it and could only find washers.
