Exclamation Royal Palms State Beach / San Pedro Tide Pools

I dunno if anyone has been down there but the past two times I have gone the lower parking lot has been closed. Once on a Saturday and on a Monday, both mid day.

Don't try to be slick and drive over the chain. LOL No I did not try. Even though my truck could easly and I was so tempted to.

When I parked up top and walked down the driveway enterance the lifeguards had the bottom of the ramp blocked with their truck.

I don't know why they have the lower lot closed. Just be ready for some exercise if you want to hit the rocks.

Dying to go but high tide these days comes around 12 noon so you either have to be there at 8am or 4pm to hit low tide. How was it when you went. Its one of my favorites.

It was a -4 low tide at about 2pm.

A regular low tide usually has allot of exposure. If the tide is going to be -8 or lower make it a pont to go if you have time and daylight.

If you just walk out to the point there is always some good rocks exposed.

Default Royal Palms

Real quick......the reason the ramp is closed is because the road to the bottom has a large sinkhole. No word on when it will open again.

Yeah just the lower parking lot is closed. I did not know it was because of a sink hole though.

When I walked down the ramp I walked right by the lifeguards and they did not say anything. So I am pretty sure guests are still welcome. Atleast there will be less spectators.

There is another smaller area that is off of Paseo Del Mar st. (north of royal palms).
You can just park on the street(for free) and walk down the hill side trail.

Default roads open

On my way home from work today I noticed that they opened the road to Palms. It is a nice walk to the bottom minus lugging a car and radio.
