Any of you exist? I was told there was a club that came down to Pacific Grove occasionally to wheel but haven't been able to find any info about them.

Wow, i periodically come down here to get crawling with my BJV4 :) What rig do you run?

I was planning to come down here in a week or so..

PS, im not a monterey local, so i dont know about any crawling club in the Pacific Grove area.

relatively new to the sport, just picked up an ax10 last week and ordered a few parts for it. Just lookin for folks to wheel with haha.

If you don't mind sharing the rocks with a noob and a lightly modded ax10 lemme know when you'll be down here.

Is there a Hobby shop down in the Mont/PG area....Im down there on Wed AM's for work and would like to check out a new place.

I usually crawl the lovers point area after I make my stop at the theater."thumbsup"

well, the best place to crawl for a 2.2 IMO is in between lovers point and Asilmar beach. in between there is mostly the best places to get crawling.

There is one spot too where there is an "island" sorta off the shore.. during low tides, you can access the point. you will know this spot, since there is like a rusted pipe-line that just lays flat.

36.626601,-121.915916 (lovers point):
Highly reccomend going here during early morning till noon. After that, it gets crowded with little kids, and some people scream at you.. i got yelled at once here for crawling, by some random guy... -.- But that was during its peak hours.

36.637122,-121.935936 (island spot):
Highly reccomended during anytime, just the times when its low tide so you can get to the island.. the back part is incredbily fun.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDP6zEtxjEk This is a vid i took at the 2 spots.

Norcal2500HD: i believe there is not a hobby store in the monterey area, let alone, one in the area.

sweet vid mrcc, the busted link had me laughing for some reason.

closest one is in Salinas since the one in sand city went kaput years ago, it's called srs hobbies and they do NOT specialize in crawlers at all, have a good selection of tmaxx crap, but nothing for axials.

Everything mrcc said is spot on, prior to joining I had no idea this spot was so popular and was actually going to post up on here about it, till i realized it's pretty dang popular, never seen any wheelers out there though, i'm only about 2 miles from the turn outs and have been going there since i was probably 6 years old or so.

The closer to Asilomar you get the smoother the rock becomes after the first few turnouts, anywhere in between Asilomar and lovers point would be perfect with a nice mixture of rounded boulders and rocks, to large granite formations.

feel free to give me a call if your in the neighborhood 831-601-4023

I may go out to the 2 points I posted this weekend.. depends whose down, and who can give me a ride from my area.

oh, but there's one spot just outside of asilomar, which really tests the rigs side hill, but its nothing more than a few mounds of rocks.

gunnar 07-11-2011 09:35 PM

The NorCal club goes to a spot just below Lover's Point in Pac. Grove. during their comp series.

Gunnar, I believe smurf is no longer organizing events for the club? Kinda curious how that's going to work out. Thank you for the heads up. "thumbsup"

gunnar 07-11-2011 10:01 PM

yeah i'm kinda surprised by the comps, i would figure it would die in the winter and be active in the summer but apparently not the case.
