| So-Cal Central Park *COMP* & GTG
Hey fellow So-Cal Crawlers!! On August 27, 2006 at Central Park in Santa Clarita Camel_Rc and I are holding a 2.2 **RECOMMENDED** Competition. Recommened because we think that the supers will waltz all over the rocks. Also depending on the amount of scale rigs that make it out, we might have a Scale class comp. I dont know if there are rules for that class or not but either way this spot is great fun for scales!! I didnt put this post under the comp section because i would like if everyone came down and hung out!! This time around we really are going to compete and not just "scout" out lines, Camel and i are going down the day before to "side walk chalk" off a few courses so by the time all of you guys show up we can pracitce then compete!! We will be fallowing the normal Rccrawler.com 2.2 class rules and who ever comes and doesnt compete can be a judge if they would like. So it would be cool for who ever doesnt know the rules to look them over and see if your rig or rigs qualify. I hope to see everyone down there!! Who-Anyone who has a 2.2 rig they think is the best!! or who ever just wants to hang out!! What-Competing and hanging out!!! Where- Santa Clarita's Central park-directions http://www.google.com/maphp?hl=en&tab=wl&q= if you can find it there copy and paste this into mapquest.com or what ever map site you use....27201 Bouquet Canyon Rd, Saugus, CA 91350 ** this goes with the above, this is a great place to crawl. The parking is Amazingly close, No hiking, tripping or cutting legs on sticks . Theres tons of trees and grass to sit on or under for shade and to keep the family occupied. brings dogs, bikes, skateboards what ever you or your family wants. Also theres a BUONGUSTOs, and if any of you dont know what a BUONGUSTOs is its a restaurant like place where they serve shaved ice, drinks and i believe sandwiches. And all this is with in seconds from where we are crawling!!** When- 8/27/06 at 9:30am Why- just because!! Im posting up the official rccrawler rules, rules-http://www.rccrawler.com/rules2006.pdf score sheets-http://www.rccrawler.com/RCC_Official_Scoresheet.doc You can also find the rules on our home away from home, which by now should be under everyones faves on there computers, www.SoCalrcrc.com **if anyone has any questions about the requirements for the 2.2 rules post them up and im sure one of us if not myself will get back to you about it** Here is a thread by Camel_Rc with SOME pics and a great video. I promise i will have more up before we go. Also the area we were at in those pics is one of many rock gardens so dont be discouraged and judge it before you crawl it!! SoCal Central Park Scouting run coverage I hope to see all of you guys out there, and like i said before Camel and my self along with all the socal guys will be checking this thread often so feel free to post up any questions you might have. lastly im putting up the class 2 (class2.2) rules so if anyone hasnt found them they can and still have time to look over everything!! Class 2 – Class 2.2: If a Class 2 vehicle violates any of the following requirements it must run in Class 1. • Vehicle wheelbase is a maximum 12.5 inches. • Vehicle track width is a maximum 12.5 inches. • Limited to 2.2 inch wheels or smaller. • Limited to 4-wheeled vehicles only. • Vehicles are limited to 2-wheel steering only. • You must run a body (full tube chassis is acceptable). • The body must be 1/10th scale or larger. • The body can be cut/modified but must retain 70% of its original form, but the width of the cab must be the factory width. • Body should resemble its original form (jeep bodies look like a jeeps) Thank you Danny Last edited by CreepyCrawler88; 08-18-2006 at 12:31 AM. |

Daniel....Camel_Rc...told me if you follow this (about 1/4 mile) spend or river rocks and boudlers you'll find big rocks in the back!! its just a "myth" right now but as soon as i figure about brushless wiring ill be out to "Bust the Myth" !! ok that was a gay joke i know!! having your bridge there would be cool!! no i do!!! i just did know they go by "super" if they have 4ws!! but anyways your rig would be fun on this course. we plan to have 2-3 courses and anywhere 5-10 gates per course. We will have bonus gates for make up points and there will be a time limit for every course. Theres no pre-running the course, not even Camel_rc and i are gunna run it, sounds dumb but its the rules!! Volunteers will go first, if no volunteers everyones name goes in a hat!! besides that all of the offcial comp rules go!! i had a thought about a Socal scale class, i was up late last night going or the rules and guidelines and i think we should have a scale class. Let me know what you think. *RULES* Class 4 – Scale Class: as far a set in stone rules, im going with the class 2 set. Scale:
1) A Scale vehicle must use a scale body. It can either be a hard body (Ie Bruiser, clod etc) or a Polycarbonate body. This means it should be something you can see everyday or on the trail/rocks.Bodies should be cut out how they were intended to be cut out. Removing some more wheel well room is acceptable to allow for tire clearance as well as bobbing beds or performing dove tails. Tubers that resemble real rock buggies or other rigs are acceptable as well. 2) Wheel bases should be to scale, meaning the wheels/tires should be under the wheel wells and should not be raked out forward. scale wheel bases are usually around 11.5 to 12.5 inches for the most part. In reference to wheel base is also vehicle width. Most of us like to use wheel wideners of some sort to help with stability. That is fine, BUT when you have the wheels sticking out 1.5 a half from the fender wells that is not very "scale". 3)Chassis/Frames. I think this is the biggest "gray" area in the "scale" crawler area. Typically ladder framed or tube framed. Some say only ladder frame/tube frames should be allowed. I agree with this to a certain extent BUT I have scene some people do really nice jobs building cages off of a regular chassis. SOOO If you do not have some sort of a ladder framed chassis, the truck body and other details have to make up for it. THIS DOESNT MEAN THAT COMP CHASISS ARENT ALLOWED, THEY ARE ALLOWED BUT The body should be heavily detailed and should sit lower on the chassis, have scale tires, and accessories in order to make up the less "scale" chassis. 4) Axles, should be "scale". Example being but not limited to TLT axles, Bruiser axles and when the new High Lift comes out those will be great as well. There are also some german made trial truck axles out there, those are "scale" too. Axles that are for the most part NOT VERY SCALE are clod axles, emaxx axles, twin force axles, NYLINTS as whole etc...Although Juggernaut/TXT axles resemble military rock well axles, they are GENERALLY really to wide for scale rig BUT if you build a chassis and body in proportion to the axles then that is fine. 5) Nylints are NOT SCALE, SORRY Nylint guys. While they use semi scale hard bodies the axles and chassis are NOT SCALE in any shape of form. Nylints should not be posted in the forum. 6)MINI/SSMTs . I have noticed alot of mini builds lately...just because its mini doesnt mean its scale! Just because you are building some kind of SSMT doesnt mean its scale either. It takes ALOT to build a "scale" Mini, THIS DOESNT MEAN THEY ARENT ALLOWED, THEY ARE BUT keep in mind the "scale" factor. A) This goes for large scale rigs as well IE 1/6 scale 7)Accesories. Having parts such as, but not limited too : Lights, tube/cage work, tube bumpers, winches, shovels, axes, water cans, fire extinguishers, roof racks, attennas, mirrors, wiper blades etc is a great way to make your rig more "scale" HOWEVER if you have a "stick" clod buster with a high lift jack on it that doesnt mean you have a scale truck...it means you have a scale accessory. Also i think there should be a "looks" contest. if you enter the scale comp you have the CHOICE to enter you rig into a contest of looks before the comp!! The judges will judge how scale and realistic the rigs look!! so lets say you have after market scale frame from the vendor market and a Proline Chevy C-10 body painted all PRUTY. It may look scale but next to the Custom built half tube chassi half scale frame with a the Bruiser Toyota body, roof rack, spared spare tire, seats and a driver to drive, add tools hanging from the sides your nothing!! *rules for the looks event* ~must be entered into the scale comp first ~must have a realistic body, NO rock pleazers!! clod is fine!! ~tube chassis are OK! ~must have tranny and drive shafts comp chassis are OK but you might be docked points, scale car frame, tube chassi, "truggy" like design and flatbeds are perfect[/COLOR] *what the judges will look for* ~spare tires ~scale tools ~seats and/or people ~spare parts...ex. drive shafts, shocks, axles shafts ect.. ~ a few simple rules to follow, from theres its up to the judges!! the winner will be awarded 10 points to his/her final scored in the scale comp!! I will be bringing a scale crawler so if anyone else wants to try this im down!! Last edited by CreepyCrawler88; 08-18-2006 at 12:25 PM. |
