Have there been any updates? Anyone have a head count? Hopefully its not to cold

Re: 2014 WCRCC Turkey Crawl Poker Run II

head counts are always misleading and typically non existence for most all events like these. we have had 46 people show up when less than a dozen posted and we have had lots of people post and mid 20's showed so its a crap shoot. i can tell you this, i along with a few other club members already spent a few hours at the location working on this years trail and will be back out there again for a few more hours finishing up. the 5 unique stops are already planned out and props or challenges been built, the shotgun and targets are ready to go. the Axial SCX10 Deadbolt is sitting here waiting for a winner to claim it. weather is saying 68 and cloudy for the day so i would say plan accordingly for what the desert can change to at any given moment

I know its a silly question, but what time do you think the event will end? Gotta hit the road by four?

Re: 2014 WCRCC Turkey Crawl Poker Run II

definitely before 4pm, last time we put a 4hr time limit just to make sure and get everyone back and turn in the poker hands. the first guy made it back in about an hour. the last few guys really scaled the entire trail and made it back in about 3 1/2 hrs

So whats the rules? Is a winch mandatory? Never done a pocker run before.

Re: 2014 WCRCC Turkey Crawl Poker Run II

the only thing mandatory is you having a good time. poker runs work like this, follow a marked out trail to each of the 5 stops. obtain your poker card at each stop, do not open it and at the end of the trail turn in your cards at the "Dealer" table where your cards are checked to see where they fall against the current best hand. after all participants have turned in their cards or the time limit expires the person with the best hand wins the pot of $$$$$$$$ (actual dollar amount is decided the day of the event based upon the number of entrants)

the trail is now completed and actually turned out longer than last years. maybe this should have been called a scale challenge, there are some butt puckering lines but very doable as i have tested them myself. we have several multiple choice sections and some areas that have never been crawled before. im looking forward to hearing the ooohs and ahhhs after people return from the run.

AWESOME day to say the least everybody i talked with had a great time, loved the trail and many self challenging lines. each of the 5 stops were all successful along with the beautiful weather i dont think it could have been any better. big props to many new faces Fault line crawlers from the Lancaster area showed up to have some fun, Hostile R/C had many people on hand, Capt Nemo and JD made the trek up from San Diego, some old friends also showed to partake in the fun. 34 entrants and we did a 100% payout at this event and one very lucky little guy by the name of Cameron Wray took home $340 the smile on his face when he saw all that dough was priceless , congrats on the best poker hand Cameron. the Wray's had a great day with Cameron's father Dave taking home the main raffle prize a brand new shiny RTR Axial SCX10 Deadbolt. big thanks to John and Ian who were on hand with their Quads to get all the supplies setup at each of the stops, having those out there really makes setting up this particular event so much easier. thanks everybody for showing up and supporting the club and we look forward to seeing you all again soon
