Long time lurker in Modesto. Looking for places to crawl/race. I know of Knights Ferry (hike there with the kids) but have yet to take the Bomber out there. I have played at the basin in the Manteca shopping center along 120 but that is only so much fun. Now that the rig is upgraded some and working again, I want to run it.

There is a spot in Oak Grove Park in Ripon that I just remembered. There is a small bmx track the kids have built over the years. Banked corners, jumps, and fallen logs to crawl over. The Maps link below shows part of the spot.

https://www.google.com/maps/@37.7275.../data=!3m1!1e3

Edit: Well I just went over there and the grass is too tall right now making the track narrow and hard to see. It's better in the summer when the grass is short.

As I have not been there in two years it's pretty different. The jumps are extreme for bmx so kind of crazy for r\c unless you like extreme air and your car can handle 5 foot drops. There is a half-pipe like spot right next to it that is pretty fun and you can use as a circle track.

Once through the bollards take the first path to the left and follow it to the spot can't miss it.

Also, almost right after the first left is a new trail that goes up to the border fence that has a short section that is great for working on side hill driving on slick surface. Just don't drive under the fence.

We have also been going to red hills which is a little past Knights Ferry, just crawl up one of the creekbeds, there is a little water in the creek which makes it fun right now.

Has anyone been down under the 5 freeway at these coordinates. For google maps , it look like some good rocks under the freeway. Its across from dell oso farms

I just ran up to Red Hills. Great spot a little ways up Red Hills Road (from La Grange Rd), at Serpentine Loop Road South. The creek is dry and rocks abound. Bring sunscreen and bug spray though.

Lots to crawl

We go to the second serpentine road, then up to a turnaround spot and crawl there.
