JC Auto Design - SCX10 Rear Upper Link Risers - Improved geometry Introducing... SCX10 Rear Upper Link Risers (AKA RULR) These parts will allow you to raise up the chassis side rear upper link mounting points to give you better anti-squat characteristics (see below for a tech answer on why this is good...)
http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/...pse493417c.jpg http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/...ps754331eb.jpg Nylon SCX10 RULR (V2) These parts are made from durable Nylon 645, and will come dyed black. On request I can leave them natural white so you can dye them any color you want.

Disclaimer - "There is still some controversy about the whole squat or anti-squat thing, so the below information is based on what I was able to find. In the end, these improve the performance of the SCX because of the better vertical link mount separation at the chassis. Many users are reporting 2 degrees steeper climbs." Here's some more info on why this is a good thing for your rig: With the raised COG and often vertical climbs these rigs encounter, the stock squat set-up actually makes it easier for the front suspension to unload and allow the vehicle to flip over backward. By simply changing the mounting point, this turns the geometry to an anti-squat set-up and when under power, the rotation of the axle actually raises the back end of the vehicle, providing a forward bias, helping you get up and over that steep climb. Re: JC Auto Design - SCX10 Rear Upper Link Risers - Improved geometry Installation Instructions: Steel version: http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/...psd1ee3245.jpg Step 1: Remove the screw and lock nut holding the lower link on the chassis.
http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/...psa6be799d.jpg Step 2: Temporarily mount the RULR to the outside of the chassis, ensuring that the bottom edge is flush with the bottom of the chassis.
http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/...ps8c639385.jpg Step 3: Using the RULR as a template, drill a 1/8" (3mm) hole into the chassis rail.
http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/...ps1b431b93.jpg Step 4: Remove the RULR
Step 5: At this point, there are a few options to how you would mount the RULR. This will depend on your set-up. http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/...psac7e71ab.jpg Option 1: Inside of chassis, with spacers http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0a66d20a.jpg In this image, a 1/4" (6mm) spacer was used to get the RULR as close to the driveshaft without binding. For this set up, you will likely need different rod ends (angled) to mount the link to the outside of the RULR. ----------------------------------- http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/...ps92f62c23.jpg Option 2: Outside of chassis, spacer for upper link For this set-up, you can adjust the spacer to get the link where you would like it. This set up typically does not work if you have sliders mounted to the chassis. ----------------------------------- http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/...ps646f5e60.jpg http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/...psba8946ea.jpg Option 3: Inside of chassis, no spacers, 30 degree bend For this set up, you would bend the RULR about 30 degrees as shown below: http://i1335.photobucket.com/albums/...psc11d38ba.jpg This can be done fairly easily if you clamp one end in a vice and use either strong pliers or a wood block and a hammer.
Step 6: Repeat for the other side, and go wheeling!
Plastic Version For the plastic version, simply remove the link mount screw, install the RULR on the appropriate side (these are Left / Right dependent), and install the upper link. |
Yes sir. Mounts look great, let alone the improved suspension geometry features. ... |

Sorry... the early bird gets the... something... I didn't even know anyone else was working on something like this. Ever since doublej's thread I have been planning this out, just had to wait for the vendor star to release it. Thanks for the compliment, and thanks to those with new orders. I am getting those printed tonight and will have them out very soon. |
