Default Pre-order - Karnage SSR Competition Scale Rails

Introducing:

JC Auto Design Karnage SSR Scale Comp Rails

The Karnage SSR V2 Chassis is a competition upgrade chassis rail for the Axial SCX10.
  • Increased axle clearance for more suspension travel
  • Improved upper link geometry provides more tuning options and increased performance
  • Built in shock towers - increased durability and placement options
  • Maintain your existing bumper mounts and location
  • Also compatible with the Wraith and Spawn Tube Chassis - turn your Wraith into a SORCCA Class 2 legal rig

Choose from two different materials:
  • Steel - 0.09" (a little thicker than 12 gauge) - Strong and weldable for custom builders
  • Aluminum - 0.125" - Lighter than steel, yet remains strong
(parts are shipped raw - unpainted)

Compared to V1, this chassis has more clearance at the skid plate (V1 in red, V2 in silver):

...and much more clearance compared to the stock frame rails:

There are two options for material, as listed above.

Steel - $65
Aluminum- $55

These prices include Free Shipping for the US. International shipping is $6.50, and will automatically apply to your order at checkout.

To pre-order these, simply visit my website:

Some history on these rails:

I have been developing these rails for quite awhile now, and feel they are ready for release. This started about 6 years ago as the MRRC chassis:

After numerous revisions and iterations, I came up with the first Karnage Chassis:

My new build - Karnage Bodiless Comp Crawler

Fast forward to about a year ago, and I started working on some scale rails to make the wraith chassis legal for sanctioned competitions.

Feeler/Preview - JCAD Scale Tech Wraith Chassis Rails

After some more tweaking, tuning, and redesigns, I landed on this design, and started testing the chassis on my Class 2 Scale Rig back in November:

JCAD - Axial SCX10 JK G6 - Test Vehicle

Pics:

This has also been tested locally with some minor changes in a chassis known as the Contender.

All testing has been very positive, and with some feedback from testers, the chassis is ready for pre-order.

I expect the first batch to be in stock by the end of the month, and a second batch soon after that.

Any questions, please feel free to post them here, PM me or email me through my website.

Loose interpretation of this:

Quote:
Integrated tube shock mounts: metal and brazed/welded to frame
It's a rectangular tube, integrated into the chassis. That will be up to the event organizer to agree with that though.

Very loose interpretation ;) Integrated-yes, welded or brazed-no.
Looks like a solid design with lots of options, but I wouldn't give them the points. Thanks for offering them in steel, that is something I can really appreciate since about everything of mine goes under the knife.

Would you give them points if the mounts were cut off and then welded back on?

They would fit the rules better, however one could argue about the intention of "integrated 'tube' shock mounts" since it's not tube. But then that opens the argument to those that used solid rod instead of tubing...oh wait, there's a can of worms. I suppose the question could be posed in the scale rules discussion thread.

"Requires SSR Wraith Adapters. Info and build threads coming very soon" when will this be? sounds very interesting! Keep up the good work!

Default Pre-order - Karnage SSR Competition Scale Rails

I didn't realize you were coming out with these in 2 different materials. How do they compare strength wise, does one frame flex more than another?? Also what is the weight of each one?

Also is the cms option going to be a add on or a whole other chassis??

Thanks, money on hand for one of these bad boys. Just making sure I'm getting the correct chassis for my needs!

Changed the wording on the first post... for now.

Testers will be getting their rails somewhat soon, so there will be pictures about how this will work soon after. I'll also be installing these on my Wringo project.

They should be comparable strength. Naturally the Steel will be stronger, but only slightly. Once the skid and normal braces are installed, they are intended to act the same.
The steel is for those wanting to braze or weld to it, the aluminum for those looking for the performance increase and to save a few bucks.

The weight difference is pretty small.
Aluminum should be 3.5oz per pair, Steel should be 7.5oz per pair.

The CMS option will be an add on. One version will look like my Nylon Panhard Mount and Delrin CMS plate, but made from metal and bolt on like the Nylon mount.
The other version will be intended for the builder to weld to the frame directly.
Working out a few details on this, but I will have some pictures of what I am talking about in a couple days. The first version will be compatible with the stock chassis as well.

Thanks for the info, waiting to here from a friend about a set of wheels he might be buying then I'll have my order in. Getting my other goodies from you as well....which reminds me. Your chassis mounted items you currently offer work with this as well?

Thanks, Ben

The existing chassis options should work, but the ones installed in this pic

are a little different. When you place your order remind me about this and I will make sure to make the correct parts.

Will do, looking to do roughly the same setup as your rig with the battery up front. Should be early next week. Thanks again!

Currently, the best way is to chop up a set of the stock SCX10 shock towers, and mount the top portion to the integrated rails.

I am trying a different mounting method on my test rig, but it is still in the beginning stages.

Intended for all stock scx10 wheelbases, but just like the SCX chassis, that can be changed a little bit. I'm running 12.5" in the picture above, and there's a little more room to push the axles out, Limited by the arches unless you chop the rear bumper mount off.

I've got a few people on the pre-order list, but not as many have paid for their pre-order. I've updated the second post with the pre-order list. If you don't see your initials on the list, send me a PM.
