Krazed Builds SCX Shock Piston Tuner Sets
Machined Delrin Pistons to help you tune your shocks.

Tired of playing with shock oils only? Wish you could better tune the pack to help with wheel hop or truck bounce?
Well heres a tuner option for those wanting to dial in their suspension.

What is Shock Pack? Let me steal a little write up from RC Car Action site.
Shock Pistons: Small Hole vs Large Hole - RC Car Action

Quote:
Shock absorbers dampen the compression and rebound of the suspension by controlling the speed at which a suspension cycles. Without them your vehicle would continue to bounce up and down. By forcing a piston through oil, shocks develop the hydraulic friction necessary to oppose the unwanted bouncing in your suspension. Most of the shock oil is forced through tiny holes in the piston as it travels. Shock absorbers are velocity-sensitive, which means the faster a suspension cycles, the resistance increases exponentially. If you look at a graph comparing a small hole piston vs large hole piston, the small hole piston has a steeper curve. A common term used to describe this is the small hole piston has more ‘pack’ than a large hole piston.

Imagine two identical trucks sitting next to each other on a work bench. One has small hole pistons with a light shock oil, the other with large hole pistons with a heavy shock oil. The dampening of the two feel the same when pushed up and down by hand, but when dropped from a couple feet above the table, the one with the large holes bottoms out and slaps the table harder than the one with the small holes. The small hole piston has more ‘Pack’ and is more velocity-sensitive
In SCX shocks we are forced to rely on the oil going around the the piston and passing through some cut outs.
Same concept as different size holes.

So what if we were able to change those shapes?
This would alter the mass of the piston flowing through the oil in effect changing shock pack as well.

Our Tuner Set will give you 4 different pistons color coded for easy identification.
You can run two different pistons front and rear, find the oil that suits you and get a better control over your suspension.

Machined to fit:
Stock Axial SCX plastic shock bodies
RC Bros Eegresssor shock bodies
Axial SCX Icon shock bodies

Price: $12.50 per set
(4 pistons per set of each color)

Let me give you an example of what I'm running and so far have found on my 2.2S truck.

I put the red triangle ones in my rear shocks with my 70wt I was running. I didn't like the slowness I felt with the 70wt and the stock pistons. Now it felt too soft and droopy.

I increased my rear oil to 80wt and felt I gained back the stiffness of the shock but it seemed to let the rear flow a little smoother. I didn't slow the shock down with the heavier oil but it didn't collapse on itself like before.

For the front I tried the blue ones with 35wt oil and it was entirely too stiff and slow. I changed it to 25wt and actually felt it helped the shock compress faster but enabled the weight to stay transferred on the axle longer.

The overall pack of my shocks was changed to something I was happier with over their initial setups. Less wheel hop and bounce giving me more traction and weight transfer control.

Received mine on June 8. Fast shipping. I will be using these in my Egressor shock bodies on my Sudu One FL. Thanks for the quick shipping and bringing us an option to the Axial machined pistons.

Thanks bud!

Still plenty in stock - such an easy and cheap improvement over the stock valves.

Imagine if the secret got out to the scale guys running the same shocks

I was going to order some but the USPS shipping rates to Canada are obscene. I don't fault the manufacturer for this but it's unfortunate that to get a set of these in Canada would cost me $36.45USD which is nearly $50.00CAD.

I wish there was better shipping options to Canada, this a commonly occurring scenario for us that parts are available at a reasonable price, but shipping almost triples the price.

Seems like a good option. Any chance these will work on the proline scaler shocks. I would say a good many scaler guys run those. Myself included.

SCX shocks are a 7mm piston where Prolines are 9mm. We thought about doing some for the new Proline shocks but haven't seen a big enough interest in them to push a batch onto the machine.

I always feel guilty when it comes to shipping rates outside the US. Something like these though I can always work with people, they barely register on the postal scale when I weight them and are small enough to slip into a love letter with a postal stamp on it

We can always try to help find cheaper shipping ways on the small things

I've been looking for a set of tuner pistons for my powerstrokes. I would for sure be intrested if you did a batch.

Very cool stuff! If I didn't have proline slash setup with tunable pistons, these would have saved me a bunch of money and staying with stock shocks
