DravTech Comp Shocks and Springs
 

The DravTech Com Shocks are based on Traxxas Big Bore shock with a lathed body and the cap mod. But instead of having to modify the parts, here you can get everything already finished and in many different color options to suit the theme of your rig.

• The length is 92.5 mm eye to eye.
• The shock body and cap is made from 6061 T6 aluminum.
• The shaft is made of titanium grade 5.
• The piston valve is machined from black delrin.
• You can choose among 3 different spring rates.
• Each kit will contain enough parts to make 1 pair (2) of shocks. If you add the Traxxas Rebuild kits and the Rod Ends you will receive parts to assemble 2 complete shocks except oil.

The spring cups are a licensed Dlux Fab design to allow you to adjust the preload of the springs or run no preload at all.



If you choose to buy the rebuild kit and the rod ends you will also have the option to get the shocks preassembled, so you only need to add oil before using them.

The DravTech springs are designed to be used instead of the Losi Mini-T front springs and have the same dimensions.

DravTech Springs compared to the Losi Mini-T front springs in regards of spring rate

Losi Pink – 0.13 N/mm
Losi Brown – 0.25 N/mm
Losi Orange – 0.35 N/mm

DravTech Ultra Soft – 0.07 N/mm
DravTech Soft – 0.14 N/mm
Dravtech Medium – 0.25 N/mm

As all the DravTech springs are black markings as been added to easier identify the spring rate. The Ultra soft springs are marked by a small white marking and the Medium springs are marked with a red marking. The soft springs has no marking.

As the DravTech springs has the same dimensions as the front Lost Mini-T springs you can use all the spring cups made for those springs, like the RCBros spring cups or the Dlux No Pre Load Shock Cups.

This is how I personally like to assemble the DravTech Comp Shocks.



First make sure you got all the parts from the Shocks and the Traxxas small rod ends.

Then pick out the following from the Traxxas Rebuild Kit (TRA2362).

You will also need a 2.0mm hex wrench, snap ring pliers and and some grease. I recommend the Team Associated Green Slime. Then you need some silicon oil to fill up the shocks with.
What I forgot to add in the picture is that you need some pliers to hold the shock shaft while you screw on the rod end. I recommend pliers specifically made for this but normal pliers work too if one is careful not to scratch the shaft.

Start with adding the small silver c-clip from the Rebuild Kit to the lowest slot on the shock shafts.

Then add the piston valves and put on the topmost c-clip.

Add the shafts with the valves through the shock body.

Now it is time to add the seals. The reason I add the seals after I out the shaft through the body is that I find it too easy damage the seals if you first add the seals. Fastening the snap ring is a bit more difficult this way, but the risk of leaking shocks are much lower.

The seals should go in this order: small thin washer, blue seal, white thick spacer, blue seal and lastly the large thin washer.

Add a lot of grease to the blue seals. Do not forget to add grease in the hole of the seals. Do not add the large thin washer yet.

Push down the seals to the bottom of the pocket in the shock body.

Fasten the snap on ring. Make sure it is mounted in the slot at the edge of the shock body.

Fasten the rod end to the shock shaft.

Make sure that you have thread on the rod end so the shock shaft do not extend beyond like this

Add the countersunk screw and fasten the rod end in the shock cap with the 2.0mm hex wrench.

Smear some silicon oil to the bladders from the Rebuild Kit.

Then mount the bladder in the shock cap. There is a slot in the bottom of the cap that the bladder should go into.

Fill up the shock body half way with silicon oil. Then move the shaft up and down while turning the shaft around without breaking the surface of the silicon oil. This is to remove any air trapped under the valve.

Wait until all the bubbles are gone and then gently fill up the shock shaft to the rim. Smear out some silicon oil on the top edge of the shock body.

Thread on the shock cap just a little bit on the shock body.

Compress then the shock shaft all the way and the tighten the shock cap while the shock is compressed. Some silicon oil will leak out so be prepared with some paper to wipe it up. I find that alcohol works great to clean up silicon oil.

Are you able to make these slightly longer by running longer rod ends? Need closer to 100mm.

Yeah you can use longer rod ends on the cap and the shock shaft to get whatever length you need. You can also get longer shock shafts from the Traxxas 2661 or 2662.

i just ordered a set of these for my vs410 pro. what is a good starting point for oil? I ordered the option springs as well.
