Default MNRCRC Spring 2007 Finals and a Newbie's SW3

Brad,

Just thought I'd let you know that my Son in Law Greg Campion was able to grab the top spot with a minus -12 score at MNRCRC's final spring comp day. It was his very first crawler competition he was driving our newbie SW3. I believe the only one in the compitition that day.

I used your setup sheet and the pages of knowledge held here within at RCCrawler.com to build our truck.

Our SW3 hung on the rocks like a "kitty on a curtin". It was one of only two crawlers that day to make the bonus gate from hell.

We of course where absolutly shocked as MNRCRC has many great trucks and experianced drivers. We believe the SW3 made it possible to accomplish this amazing comp win our SW3 was flawless.

We had a extended fun run after the comp and our SW3 continued to impressed us both. As we kept rasing the bar to see it's capibility. We could only laugh when it would respond to our challenge and make it up and over. The SW3 has impressive ledge hanging ability it is awesome, as you aready know.

Most incredible we are both Newbies, I built the rig and Greg was in his very first RC competition ever. We are crediting beginers luck and the incredible SW3 chassis preformance for Greg's incredible runs!

I know there are other SW3's in our club I've seen them and I'm sure we will see those completed by the time our summer comp season starts on 8-12-07. There goes our advantage. lol

The club also appreciated the prizes Bender Customs donated.

Great Job

Wanna be Colorado guys

Wow, thanks for the compliments Stormin', and congrats to your son in law Greg for his first comp entry/win. I'm glad to hear the SW3 is working good for you guys.

A little update......
The next round of SW3 chassis' is in the works now. The skid plates will be ready for the last few individual orders I have tomorrow. I will get them shipped out as soon as they are ready. Chassis plates are at anodize and the link mounts are getting ready to go in the machine.

Thanks for the support.

Are these a direct swap for the SW2? How do the mounting holes line up with the SW2?

No not at all, the sw3 lower links need to be shorter, here check Benders latest build. Worth every penny and then some!

The mounting holes for the lower links are different, upper link mount holes are different, the skid plates are shorter. I moved the tranny mounting points down lower on the SW3, then the SW2. So, the skid plate is shorter on the SW3 to clear the Pede tranny housing. The SW3 chassis itself is about 1/2 the weight of an SW2.

It depends on the wheelbase you want to run. 2 engraved plates would be strong enough. But, it would have to be a 2.2 TXT. Anything more then a 13" wheelbase will result in really poor shock angles. I replied to your PM too.
