Looks like a nice little indoor course! Did you get the rocks from a quarry?

Cole82 01-13-2008 11:21 AM

I don't know Jeff set it up. I just showed up and drove.
The upper part is sanded cement over rasin paper and chicken wire.

Cool, I wish I would of made the trip down.
18 isn't quit double of "what they get at most outdoor comps", but a good turnout none the less "thumbsup"
With the number of people in the Chicago metro area, I'm surprised it took this long to get some interest. Hopefully this is just a start.
Congrats Zach!

It was in referance to the MWRCA outdoor events not the whole us crawler nation of comps. What do you expect its a reporter after all.:flipoff:

Mnster 01-13-2008 01:45 PM

Yeah I gave her those numbers, I figured all last year we had averaged 5 competitors but earlier in the year and larger events we had anywhere from 15-20. So a gave her a round about answer.

freetimecrawler 01-13-2008 01:51 PM

Well hopefully Ben, this season will have much larger attendance.
BTW, do you guys have a comp schedule figured out yet?
I bought a small car just for traveling to comps this Summer.
I hope to hit a bunch of Midwest comps this season "thumbsup"
The MNRCRC '08' comp schedule is out already.

I don't know, we are thinking about running a few comps out at devils lake. There seems to be several people in that region. However, I feel our comps will be few and far between. Cole is running Iowa's comp season. We discused at hobbytown that MWRCA will probably just be huge massive comp events maybe 3-4 a year. Like regional style comps Iowa vs. Wisconsin. Last year we just didn't have the members there to make the season worth the drive and our efforts. We got burned out honest truth. We'll be comping at the Naperville hobbytown as they allow it's just a short drive for us and the members are definitly there. We will be making maybe 4 trips out to MN this year already looking at that first comp date.

Looking at our future plans for the year it looks like...

Local Scale truck events once or twice a month here at a local park.

A few Devils lake comps maybe 1 every two months.

MN comps as we can.

Iowa comps as we can.

Naperville comps as we can.

Moab, Nationals going as spectators.

I want to make it to one Missouri comp and one Green river KY comp.

Definitly doing more camping this year. Didn't camp once last year, and my brother and I regret it as I realized the comps that we had the most fun at in the past we camped at.

Bought Full suspension mountain bikes so we plan to travel a little more and Bike / drive rc.

I second all of that.

Yeah once I get it to shape we'll have to check that out. There is a half decent trail system near us. We went to Moab and got hooked on downhill biking.

Bought some all mountain bikes even though our riding is mostly XC as we plan to make the yearly trip to Moab.

I love the part where I "spend allot of time at HobbyTown". I might make it in every couple months up until they started the course.

The rocks came from one of the employees cousin who is a landscaper and a guy who works for the county has been dropping rocks by the store. Im hoping we can get rid of some of the smaller stuff and get rid of the tire grabbing holes.

And axle snapping you mean. That's why my rubi only drove about three feet after the comp snapped an axlle shaft.
