evin rude e-tec no oil changes ever??

has anybody seen the new commercial for the evinrude e-tec outboard motor. they make claims for no sceduled maintenance for 3 years at a time and all these other claims about why you should buy one. but the thing that gets me is they also claim "it never needs an oil change, EVER"
that makes no sence to me how it could be done and i was just wondering if anyone had any clue how this could be. it says its a two stroke but it says no need to mix gas and oil. my guess it it runs like a two stroke but its just straight gas running through the bottom end of the engine but how much lubrication does that have

i'm betting it's oil injected like most newer 2strokes. the mainteance is probable based on low hours or 3 years which ever is first..
not to say they aren't good motors its some sales gimmick i'm sure

Oil injection for the gas mixture and no crankcase oil I would suppose.

oil injection would make sence. kinda like snowmobiles and quads that have a seperate tank for the oil. its just the first time i saw the commercial i just figured it was a four stroke and didn't know what to think.

It is a two stroke therefore no oil changes ever, except the gear case. The oil injection system is extremly efficient so it precisely meters the amount needed for lubrication. It's impressive on paper and it's supposed to be a great motor.

Long live the 2 stroke outboard motors. I spent alot of time in boats between my own and friends and other family members with both 4 stroke outboards and 2 stroke outboards and I have yet to find a box stock 4 stroke to outperform a compairable HP 2 stroke.
