Default Mac Air

New Mac Air laptop released

http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...ly/macbook_air

Widescreen display

Its 13.3-inch widescreen LED backlit display delivers 1280-by-800 resolution which produces vibrant images and rich colors. The LED technology also conserves battery life.

Full-size keyboard

The full-size, illuminated keyboard is perfect for staying productive on a plane or in a conference hall.

The genius of multi-touch

The MacBook Air trackpad adopts many of the innovative multi-touch gestures from the Apple iPhone, so you can pinch, swipe or rotate by simply moving your fingers.

Get more out of MacBook Air

Out of the box, your MacBook Air can have all the software you need preinstalled. Mac OS X Leopard and iLife ’08 come standard, and iWork ’08 is available as an option.

Flat-out stunning

Between 0.16 to 0.76 inch thin and weighing only 3.0 pounds, MacBook Air sets new standards for ultra-portable computing — without the usual ultra-portable compromises.

Next-generation wireless

With blazing-fast 802.11n2 and Bluetooth 2.1 + EDR wireless technologies built in, MacBook Air takes full advantage of the increasingly wireless world.

Remote Disc

An innovative feature that allows you to access the DVD or CD drive of a nearby Mac or Windows PC. It’s perfect for installing software and retrieving files.

Latest Intel mobile architecture

MacBook Air features an Intel Core 2 Duo processor up to 1.8GHz — custom-built to fit within its compact dimensions.

I wish they weren't so damn expensive. Notice how the 1.6 is about 1800 bucks and the 1.8 is over 3000? It's got a fancy-schmancy SOLID STATE hard drive (but only 64GB).

This product is obviously not for a power user. It looks like a nice laptop for personal use tough. I'm not a mac fan.

64gb hd!? OSx must not use that much. It probably has eSATA it would have to.

Go and price out say a Dell, make sure it has everything a Mac has spec wise and you will find out that Macs are equally priced and sometimes a lot less expensive. The reason why Macs seems to be so "expensive" is because they use top of the line hardware and are way more inovative than the crap other manufacturers put out.

-Microsoft used to just make Applications and games for Apple 2 PC's before DOS
-iPod revolutionized the world of portable music many people have called the iPod a now universal name much like the Walkman was or Kleenez is to Facial Tissue, hows that "Zune" thing selling?
-Apples used the first GUI based system wide spread
-Apple was the original "mouse" contemporary
-Apple and OSx has always had low virus/security issues
-Apple charges $99 for an OS, while Microsoft charges $200+
-Macs have included USB2.0 before PC's, Firewire is on all Macs while most PCs offer it as an option, Wireless was on desktop and laptop machines earlier for Macs, Bluetooth was used in a Mac long before a PC.

The only crap I see is Shaun's 454 posts.

Macs are the BOMB for video editing, but this one in particular would be an awful choice for that task - no firewire or burner (although a nice external burner could be used). Look at a MacBook Pro, or even a standard MacBook.

The notebook is strictly gearing toward the people on the go......Less packing size and weight. I been thinking out a Mac here recently and I think that this may pushed me over the top. About tired of Microsoft.
