Default TLT crawler price list

I was wondering if anyone can make a list of parts and prices needed to build a TLT crawler, just like a general price list so i can get the general price idea for things.

At 16 pretty sure you have a very limited budget just get the AX-10 about $250 then you will have about that much in the electronics to get it running. If you do a ground up build add a few hundred more.

'taint cheap lad. If you're starting from scratch (no radio, charger etc.) then it can get quite expensive if you don't get bargain basement stuff or shop around a lot.

I'll be posting a thread when I get some momentum giong on my build, but here's a (rather shocking) breakdown of some fairly decent quality stuff, bearing in mind that this list is incomplete and is pushing a grand... And I'll only be using it for dicking around with. Still, cheaper than a Fireblade...

Truck Tamiya TLT-1 Rock Buster - eBay $ 125.00
Chassis Penguin 2300reBay - RCBoyz $ 97.94
Fat Rock Aluminium Axle Cs - RCPCrawlers $ 14.99
Traxxas Stampede Rod Ends (1942) - RCPCrawlers $ 6.69
Extra Bevel Gear set - RCPCrawlers $ 4.70
6/32 threaded rod - Home Depot $1.50
Transmission AX10R - CPCrawlers $ 36.99
Pinion Gears x2 - RCPCrawlers $ 6.78
Motor/ESC Novak Brushless Crawler + Novak Goat - RCPCrawlers $ 204.99 Radio/Receiver Futaba 3PM 2.4GHz Radio & Receiver - eBay $ 173.49
Battery Charger Hyperion 0606i AC/DC Charger $ 139.95
Battery Pack Hyperion Litestorm 4350VX Li-Po $ 97.25
Driveshaft Traxxas Revo $ ?

Get an AX10, I started with a TLT and while it is not bad at all, the AX10 offers superior performance out of the box with a lot less cash.

Better Idea, use the trans out of your B3, get a lathe motor-> $20, a pair of AX-10 axles-> 40-ish each, Make some links from 4-40 rod, aluminum tube, and Maxx ball ends, hit the chassis section of www.RCPCrawlers.com , www.TCSCrawlers.com, and www.RC4WD.com and the vendor section of the forums and pick the chassis of your choise. You could keep the B3 tranny where it is and order an AX-10 trans from www.JPcustomrcs.com for less than $40 as well.

Even spending a year looking for deals and grabbing them when they came up I still have over $600 into both of my 2.2 rigs. Your best bet would be to become a star holding member and watch the classified section for a screaming good deal on a RTR or roller and go that way.

Get a TLT kit and then make a chassis on your own. I think I pent $8 for a piece of aluminum from Home Depot, and I now have a chassis I cut on a band saw.
TLT $140 ebay
set of moabs (4) $27 ebay
traxxas tq3 transmitter and receiver bought here $30
junfac wheels $36 junfac.com
rubi tj body $28 online
traxxas driveshafts $14 ebay

So far thats $275, I just need a battery not sure what im using yet, and a motor.

edit: I also made upper and lower control arms from all-thread from HD and aluminum sleeve from the LHS. Probably about $15 in parts, and traxxas tie rod ends $10 so Im at $300 now.
I figure another $100 or less to get it up and running and finished. Look around for deals on parts, theres no reason to pay full price for stuff.

I built 6 including mine and the cheapest roller I had was like 325.00$ Thats with a j2-tt chassis mashers glued and no bearings. That was all new stuff, and I got the tlt's when hobby people had them on sale for 79$. You could do way better getting used stuff here. The three most expensive parts are the tlt kit or axles, tranny, and chassis. I posted before about aftermarket parts for the tlt axles. You can wheel stock parts for sure. One of the guys who purchased one of my rollers is still stock with no breakage. He has had it for about 9 months. To me breakage is not acceptable, so I upgrade to prevent it. Thats also why I said keep it light. Lighter trucks break less imo.

Exclamation Do you really want a TLT?

AX10: $240
integy 55T lathe motor: $15
or Holmes Hobbies Crawlmaster Sport 3014 1000kv: $50
GP 3300 stick pack: $25 at most radioshacks
ESC: $30 for a cheap one,
or mamba max esc: $125
futaba 2pl FM radio with micro reciever: $85
or AM radio: $40
duratrax mini pulse peak charger: $70
flexible 12 gauge wire: $1
Hitec 645 servo: $35

cheap crawler:
total: $456
without charger: $386
without radio or charger: $346

crawler with nice electronics:
total: $631
without charger: $561
without radio or charger: $476

the AX10 is probably your best bet. a tlt it:
axles: $125
AX10 tranny $45
chassis: $100 for a decent one
Total: $270
and that is without hardware, links, possibly servo plates, driveshafts, tires, wheels, and a body.
the AX10 has all of that for cheaper than just axles a tranny and chassis. And to make TLT axles as good as AX10 axles required even more spending, and the AX10 axles are made for crawling, where the TLT axles are not. so what do you think is the best option?
TLT axles are what i run, but that was the only option at the time. i would get AX10 axles but i do not have the money. the only reason many people have and use TLT axles is because the AX10 didnt exist until about 6 months ago.
