Default Horizon Hobby repair ?'s

I have a Jr-R1 that I picked up used with a spektrum module. I've gone and ripped the antenna off. I have never sent anything in for repair before. I'm wondering if it is worth sending it to them to fix it or should I just buy a new one and possibly upgrade to a pro system? Moneys tight so I would be more willing to go the cheaper route.

I will call them to get an Idea what it might cost, but in the mean time I was wondering what kind of experience you guys may have had with Horizon repair issues.

Just buy the proper wire and solder a new one on. Make sure the wire gauge, TOTAL length, and strand count are the same. I bought Hi-Tec rx wire at lhs and soldered a new antena on my Mini Lst....no problem just take your time. Technically should be re-tuned, but I had no issues so considered it worked fine.

From what I hear, to have the antenna replaced isn't too expensive. However, rather than wait for it to get fixed, I bought an antenna from RCMart and fixed it myself. I can only assume you busted the collar thing that holds the antenna to the housing but it might be possible to re-route the antenna to where the FM antenna goes like I did on my M11. I couldn't find the antenna on RCMart, but here's on on RC-Mushroom; 8 bucks. Should be about 12-14 after shipping. The antenna wire just snaps onto the PCB so it's an easy fix. You might even be able to get Horizon to just send you an antenna and a housing.

Just found one on RCMart:

Here's the M8/M11 spektrum mod for reference:

JR is very good when it comes to service for warranty, updates, and repairs for money. They are also pretty quick on turn around.

I did break the pivot arm too, but I'm sure I could live with that, Thanks guys for the replies, I didn't know you could buy the antenna by its self
