2001 Jeep Cherokee Sport Value ?? im possibly about to buy a 2001 loaded cherokee sport from a local dealer. its very clean and has 50k on it.they want 10,000 for it. i looked it up on kelly blue book and its at 9k on there and around that on nada also give or take 1k. when i look on the web for actual prices from different places i found a huge range from 1800.00 to 11,900. i know there are some jeep freaks out there on this board and wondered about your opinions. thanks ! |
Can't tell ya nothing with out specs and pictures. |
Have you looked to see what they are selling for in your local area? Kelly and NADA our guidelines at best. Also and I gotta ask is it a 4WD or a 2WD? I'm sure its a 4WD. Options: anything special? Here in Colorado Jeeps have a tendency to be priced a little high in my opinion. But in places like Alabama they are priced lower or about average. I would do a search on cars.com and see what you come up with that is comparable to the jeep you are looking at. I would offer 9 grand if it was in good shape and didn't need tires or any work right away. IMO Good Luck! |
My stock '99 w/ 56K was right around there (from a stealership as well). Yet you are lucky to get 6K out of a well built one.... |
sorry guys for the lack of specs.here are most off the top of my head. gray 4 door 4x4 auto no rust good paint electric locks, windows rear wiper cd player steel wheels clean interior over all very nice truck.ive just seen prices on the net up and down for the year.i checked the web for same jeeps styles in this area and the trucks are rite around the same price give or take. this is a larger dealership in my city and they mostly sell new cars, this was a trade in. so anything that needs fixing will be done, like tires or brakes etc everything needed to pass inspection. it has a 90 day warranty also. again thanks for the help. |
Try taking before giving I say. At auction or trade they probably paid 5500 - 6000 for that jeep. They have room to move trust me. I wouldn't expect them to give you the jeep. They are in the car business and they also have mouths to feed. But making an offer that is fair to you (not a crazy lowball offer) will get things started. Stay firm on your offer! within a couple hundred bucks. Also try talking with the sales manager directly. Less BS that way!"thumbsup" |
Really, I'd offer the guy $7500-8000 for it. They are really pricing themselves out of range for the Cherokee. They have really never held their prices that well. Even though it's 7yrs old, I wouldn't pay any more than $8500 MAX. |
just be able to walk away. because if you just say nevermind and start to walk out, they will drop it a little. |
Do you want to keep it stock? If you are going to build it to wheel, just wait for one to come up that is already lifted etc... Modded 4x4 go for less the stock trucks even though they are a better value. It was cheaper for me to buy a second 4runner then to do to my 4runner what I wanted. If you want to keep it stock, it does seem a little high. Also the dealer will give you a better deal on the 31st so he can meake his quota (this is true for new cars, hopefully for you this is true with used cars too) |
Paid 8500.00 for my 98 3 years ago w/58000 miles on it. It was loaded w/ everything. If you going to wheel it a little bit try to find one w/ 8.25 rear axle instead of Dana 35. |
wheeling it is always a possibility down the road but for rite now its just gonna be a DD. thanks guys for the help. |
