Experimental Crawler Robot Not a truck rock crawler, but a crawler nonetheless. I thought I'd just post it here because it does use RC car-type steering. PLus it looks cool. http://biorobots.cwru.edu/projects/w...asonic_005.jpg http://biorobots.cwru.edu/projects/w...imbing_005.jpg |
That's a lot of chain drives  Wonder if those tires are comp legal? |
What's the scoop on it? Is it yours? Is it rc, or autonomous? |
It's not mine. I think it was a thesis project of some sort at a university. http://biorobots.cwru.edu/projects/whegs/whegs.html THey are autonomous. The one in the picture is the latest version. It has a lot of slip on flat smooth surface though compared to wheels. Rough ground probably solves that problem. |
It was probably inspired by RHex. It's a simplified version of the legs-RHex used complex programming to get the legs to rotate in perfect timing-that one doesn't need the programming because it has more legs. I was thinking of doing a search/rescue robot with similar legs, but never got around to it. |
