...thanks for that ConstantM... ...It has taken me SO long to get around to this There are SO many differences way to 'build' a truck that i figured i would just get the basics and see what i can figure out... ...I tried to stay away from the green as much as possible, unfortunately not a fan ...whatever i end up with i know i will want to change anyway... ...40 USD shipping to Japan hurt, though its EMS, but its still better for me in the long run than the 60 USD for the RTR with parts that i didnt even want...FYI ana AX10 RTR here is the equivalent of 500 USD!! ...Blasphemy though isnt it? An Axial here in The Land of Tamiya |

Umm, you going to bolt all that stuff to something I don't see a chassis listed in there. I'm assuming you have all the electronics already?

DANGIT!! you mean i need OTHER stuff toO? ...My ideal chassis changes everyday...one day its a clod on a cane, the next day its a torsional TLT...Yesterday it was Losi Grappler and today its tuber I will leave all the really COOL stuff to my senior colleagues but i will definatley enjoy looking at the eye candy of what they have done...And maybe borrow some ideas... ...Right now it loks like i am going to be bolting everything to 2 HPI MT2 rear towers bolted together...I am going ghetto this time round... ...Electronics is pretty good...Like many others in here; new to the category but not to the hobby... |

I'd HIGHLY recommend a Bender Customs SW3 chassis. You won't be dissapointed. |

...thanks RaptorMan...I am leaning to more of a K2-3S / 3L type of thing... ...but i did pull out the MT2 rear towers i have...they look pretty usuable in the mean time until the money tree blooms again ...man there are SO many options its incredible... ...TCS has just mailed me that my order has been 'completed'...Whatever that might mean |

If you're buying all those pieces... why not just buy the whole kit? You get all that plus a chassis, wheels & tires... etc etc

...it would have cost me 300 USD but it would also have given me all the parts i dont want... ...Didnt want the body, the chassis, the rims, the tires, the shocks etc etc...I just ended up getting the basics...Works out well for me...Sure i could ebay them but they are all over ebay and shipping from Japan makes no sense...I could have auctioned them locally but i couldnt be bothered... ...I SHOULD have also got the TWO pipe pieces that work as the chassis braces at the top of the chassis...I SHOULD have bought a second skid plate to use as a chassis brace / spacer...Other than that i am pretty good to go... |

...wow! thanks for the post Run2JeepN..I appreciate it...I have been following your site for a while and its one of the reasons, amongst others, that i decided to grab a 'crawler' anyway...Keep up the great work... ...Being in Japan the shipping for a whole kit was going to make the whole thing about 300 USD...What put me off getting the WHOLE kit was that there are parts in it that i DONT want...I dont like the tires, the rims are awful and the body is not what i want...I dont want to use the stock chassis and that green is annoying...Sorry to poopoo one of the most groundbreaking RTR's in RC history but thats the way it is ...If i had wanted or planned on the same AX10 as everyone lese then i would have happily bought the kit but i know it will end up being quite different anyway... ...The biggest thing that i wish i HAD ordred is the BENT rod ends that take the long link for the steering...The other side of that is that i am not very happy about Axial using a specialised unit in the first place... ...I have all sorts of different RC parts to play with in an attempt to make something that works and this site is a mine of information so i thought i would try something 'out of my box'...I appreciate all these posts that tell me i took the wrong route put there are plenty of OTHER threads that will show you a STOCK AX10 ...So i dont really mind you brusting my bubble ...If it all turns to poo i will just buy an Edge LoL... |

If all that stuff is so expensive to get in Japan, you could have sold what you did not want for a good price !!

...I am very happy with what i ordered Admittedly I would have preferred the M3 version of the Moab but beggars cant be choosy eh... ...apparently it was only let out of customs at 11 this morning so I am guessing tomorrow lunchtime but they might surprise me with a late afternoon delivery today...Once packages get INTO Japan they are pretty quick... ...Thought i might throw together a Slap Stick to see how that goes...Its an interesting concept...Then i might add another rod to the other side and try out the torsion idea...Means i dont have to worry about links... ...I am not trying to reinvent the wheel at all because the more you search on this site the more cool stuff you find thats been done and done very WELL but i am more a tinkerer than a driver ...Anyway i needed something smaller than the E-Savage to funk around the garden with Baby Bit once the weather gets warmer...Thanks to all of you for following this thread...i am looking forward to whatever i come up with |
