Default Boyd Coddington passed away

I saw online that Boyd Coddington passed away at age 63. Cause of death wasn't released. He was still pretty young. He built some really nice cars. He was just here in Tulsa, OK to unveil the 1957 Plymoth "Miss Belvadiere" that was buried for 50 yrs.

It probably didn't say how he died because one of his employees probably strangled him! I never did like him either but I feel for his family and friends.

Did anyone ever meet him in person? I'm sure he wasn't the same guy the show made him out to be... It wouldn't be entertainment if he was a "nice guy"

I saw him in person at a show he was visiting in Florida . He had no cars but was just walking around and getting annoyed that people were asking him for autographs and what not. He told some little girl that " Her father should be worring about you and to leave me alone and go bother him . "
He just handled himself in a bad way.

This was posted on Dodgetalk.com, and was a copy-paste from elsewhere

the h.a.m.b. is a hotrodders forum, i'm pretty sure its legit. i read on another forum it was due to Cirrhosis. no there is not direct link & nothing to be found on google which is odd, however, this was just posted:

Hello all,

It is with a heavy heart that I come on here and write this. I just wanted to stop by and thank everyone for their comments and prayers. A friend told me about this forum and I stopped by last night to read all of the posts, and what I seen made me proud to be a hot rodder. Thank you one and all.

Boyd was a great man, not just because of his accomplishments, but, because of what he believed in and did. I was with him for 8 years and seen the man for who he really was, not what was seen on a TV show or a brief encounter. I can tell you all he truly loved hot rods and enjoyed seeing the cars that folks brought to the many shows we attended. Here's a good example of how he felt, we were at a small show for an appearance. Him and Jo were taking a break before heading out to start signing autographs and hadn't had a chance to see the show yet. I had taken a quick walk around to see some of the cars and when I returned he asked how it was. I made the comment that some of the cars really didn't belong in a car show which quickly brought a response from Boyd. He told me " these guys work hard on their cars and they are proud of them, that's what matters, and it is not for us to judge them but to respect them for the hard work and effort it takes." He of course was right and I knew better, just one of those stupid comments we all make sometimes.

I learned a lot from Boyd over these past 8 years and, although I wish I could have more, I thank God I had the time I did. I am proud to have known and worked for the man and feel very blessed and lucky. He is and always will be a legend in our community, and will be deeply missed.

Again, thank you one and all, and I will pass along the wonderful thing you all have said on here to Jo and the rest of the family and folks at the shop. God bless you.

Yep....and if you look at most people with this kind of talent, most don't know how to manage people or deal with people very well. Look at OCC, those guys are animals, but they turn out great bikes. Boyd helped create car obsessions for people that never thought they would ever have an obsession.

X2 his work set the standard for many years and to die at 63 he still had many cars left to build. A freind of mine's wife won one of his roadsters in a contest. Truly a rolling peice of art.

Yeah he definately turned out some killer cars,my favorite was the Junkyard Dog.Boy he sure did chew thru a whole bunch of employees though. Most jumped ship to work for Chip Foose, who I think is more creative and much more personable.A sad day nevertheless,I respect that kind of talent.

This thread is to honor him "not disrespect him" !!!!!!

This man was a living ledgend in the automtive industry he built hundreds of one off cars and thats what he did . He also hired foose and gave him the start he needed to become what he is today , as well as all the other people he had working for him . Even if he didnt hand build those cars by him self he desined them all with the crew of talented workers he had , that crew was his tools to create all the sweet jaw droping rides they built thruout the years . Im sure he started out just like all the people he had working for him a buisness like that shows the hard work he has put in to it and it was a huge amout of work if you ask me . This thread is to remember boyd for all of the great things he did like building the cars and the people he has helped along the way . He will be remembered as one of the greatest car builders of all time and he should be honored for it . He will be truly missed !!!!!

My thoughts and prayers go out to the coddington family !!!!
