when i read the title im like hmmmmm my dad is building a 650 twin like this guy. then i read his name was rick and i about fell over. my dads name is rick and is building a yamachop. he is very very close to being mechanically done. (waiting on a side cover and some handgrips) tell your dad that his bike looks...interesting to say the least. but i assume it was a cheap jobber just to scoot around with. when my dads done i will dig up this thread and post pics. |

it looks like more of a real chopper than any of the OCC-WCC rainbow colored piles that are on TV to me. Put a bobbed fender on the rear and a seat(i cant tell if you put one on or not) and it'd be perfect.

i was talking about the yamaha. here is my opinions (take care that you dont mind them to much): the guys at occ are a joke. yes i know that they are rich and have made it for themselves. but if you look at the way they beat stuff together on that show i would be scared to take one of there bikes out of town. wcc: i like jesse james and his style. although i also think that he has sold out just like occ. become to big. stupid discovery channel has made these business's huge amounts of money. but... well idk i just dont care for it. and on the matter of fun/nice bikes. i would rather have a nice and fun bike. which is exactly what my dads will be. it has excellent style.(to us anyways, but that is what really matters in the long run) and it was a pretty peppy bike stock. and the stock weight compared to now...this thing should darn near fly down the street. btw. does your dad happen to frequent the chopperunderground.com forum? |

I like the style of clodcrawlin's dad's bike, no nice paint, minimal chrome, it looks like a bike that you can just ride, no polishing or constant cleaning, something you can use sometime other than summer.

some one want to come over and fix my bike.... 1980 susuki GS1000 ... I think it needs a new starter silanoid(sp?) or a new electrical system completly. I havn't had time to tear it apart and look. since i have been in germany. Last time i tried to ride it The fawking starter wouldn't freakin turn off so I figured the silanoid was stuck or i have a faulty switch somewhere. well anyhow the starter just kept turning over the motor but with the ignition off and no fuel or spark (yes I know this couldn't be good for the engine, but I didnt have much choice at the moment) and decharged the battery in about 40 second. so the bike has been sitting for oh I'd say around 18 months or so. I have to get it running when I get home. I like your dads bike, It reminds me of this old harley 100 dirtbike I used to have. I have had some wierd old bikes. all cheap and all garbage, such as a 1968 ducati 102 dirtbike, It used iregular sized plugs so we had to take VW bug plugs and wrap them in Teff tape and red loctite to make the fawkers not fall out. Funny stuff but we only paid like 15$ for the bike. Last edited by lodikrawlingkiller; 06-20-2005 at 07:04 AM. |

I like the 185 it is what a true real chopper is supposed to be not a money pit something to have fun on and to also beat the snot out of.If I were to buy a new bike it would by far be an exile cycles bike everything brushed alum and flat black with a twist grip clutch and clipons. And also Kickstart no wussys here.

It looks a bit small for your dad, but it still has some more potential left in it. I personally would just want to clean up that chopped part of the frame behind the seat. Like chop it at the joint and then clean it up with a grinder. I'd probably change the handle bars out too (but that's personal preferance). Looks like fun. Now get a video. |
