| Wrangler SNOW Wheelin'--Additional Pics
After working many weeks straight on various R/C projects at the shop, I'd finally had enough, and needed a break, and felt like takin' my YJ out winter wheelin' Once out in the woods,I figured "Hey I can make that snow drift..!!!" When in doubt.. THROTTLE IT OUT..!!!!! Everything was fine, until I ventured into unknown territory, and the snow became weak, and real slushy.... So instead of going further into the woods ALONE..., ( yeah, I know, you NEVER go wheelin' by yourself..!!!), i tried to to turn around, but going up the hill I'd just came down, proved a challenge.......:-P Well, Finally winched my way back up the hill, and almost back to the main cart road..., when I heard a loud... *BANG* from the rear end..... then the whole ass end sank to the right..... I got out and discovered the rear axle obviously decided it had had enough "fun" for the day, and grenaded its case....:-( Lucky for me, I had just enough charge left on the cell phone battery to call AAA, and they flatbedded it outta there for me, and now its back at the shop, with a broken rear axle.... Time to hit the salvage yard..!!!!! LOL..!!!!!! Last edited by 51WillysJeep; 01-06-2008 at 03:22 PM. |

YES, you both are CORRECT..!!!!!! Gotta love those stock dana 35's..!! ( i.e. = Boat ANCHOR..! ) Fortunately after making a few calls around to a few friends, I came up with a complete ARB Locked Dana 44 rear, with chromoly shafts, new disk brakes, and new skidplates... He owed me a favor, so I paid him with a 12 pack of Bud lite, and he seemed happy..... He told me, we'd install the new axle tomorrow, and then he'd show me a few new places to wheel on New Years day...!!!!! | |

Hey Everyone..HAPPY NEW YEAR..! My Wranglers all fixed now, But after waking up this morning (ready to hit the trails), I looked out the window, and my plans came grinding to a halt... There is literally a BLIZZARD going on outside , and the trails we were planning on checking out, just don't exist at the moment...:-( SO Heres a few more pics of the first outing ( before the Dana 35 puked.) When we DO eventually get back out, we rounded up another buddy with a YJ to go with us too...,SO we are up to 3 jeeps now..!!!! STAY TUNED..!!!! |

Looks like the real deal. By the looks of the last photo, you need to fire up that defroster.

LOL, Yeah, It was working in the beginning of the ride, but after traversing some of the rougher sections on the trail the damn defroster crapped out..!!! "Just Expect Every Problem"..!! Its all fixed now..! The next Jeep run will also be including a YJ on 38's and 3/4 ton chevy running gear.!!! The "Beast" is my buddys jeep.., and he's not afraid to USE it.. The words "ROCK RASH" only begin to describe this thing..!!!!!! We also will be having a nearly stock YJ with 32" Super Swamper TSL's coming along too. The snowstorm outside actually seems to be thinning a little, and we might be able to get outside for a bit today...........Stay Tuned..! |
