just think... you hook a big fish, start driving back to the dock ( you have your retrieval hook ready) and that fish gets P'd off, and swims like hell, dragging your $60 boat backwards, and then POOF!!! it disappears into the water... never to be seen again...

Exactly, but I suppose you'd run a pretty light line so it'd snap before the boat got dragged under.
