| Castle Customer support / Sidewinders
Just a little story that is so rare in our hobby I had to share it. I purchased two Sidewinders yesterday trying to support my local Hobbytown since the other 3 in the area are gone now.. Anyway, I get them home, set one up per the instructions and it acts all stupid. So I read all the directions and realize it's in BL mode by default. So I get into the config mode and wow is that confusing without clear directions! So, I'm on the phone with the a Castle tech support guy and he talks me through it while I tell him about loving the hell out of my Mamba Max. I get to done with option #8 and it kicks out of config mode and goes back to drive mode which doesn't let me into #9 which is BL or Brushed mode. So he tells me that the very first batch of 200-250 did this. So I ask what the chance is that the other is like this. He basically tells me "Astronomical"... that sealed the deal of me being screwed. Guess what happened to the second one?:-( So I tell him that it does the same thing. So, he tells me since I basically have $350 retail of Castle stuff he's gonna send me a Castle link. FREE! I about shit myself. I've run Novak for a long time and grown accustomed to the "You F'ed it up, tough shit" line. I'm so sold on Castle products now! If anyone ever had a doubt about them, I'll be the first one to tell you they ROCK! I'm now working on replacing all my stuff with Castle products.

Castle has been great in supporting their new Mamba Monster as well. They have repeatedly frequented the forums on RC-Monster.com to answer specific questions and they're dealing very quickly with any failed units that customers have from the first production run of them.

I'm still waiting on it, but it should fix the problem. I just have the old software and I need to download the new version 1.17.

The castle link will definately help. Once you get the software installed and plug it up it's all simple to change settings. I know exactly what you're talking about with it being in BL mode, and I wouldn't have even had a clue how to change it without the link. I had issues getting the software to install for the link, and found a forum out there that several of the Castle staff are signed up on. They're quick to post to help out on issues with their products. Went with a Sidewinder and a CCBEC on the first rig, going with the same on my second, and I don't see me changing brands anytime soon. |

It was on the rcgroup when I was just randomly searching for info about castle link problems. They've got a CC section in the vendors section and several different castle folks on there. I didn't know if I should be posting any links to other rc forums on here or not though.

| This is a good forum for help with Castle products. http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=34 Joe Ford (Product Specialist) and Patrick del Castillo (Company President/Principle Engineer) both post on there. |

The Castle guys are on this forum too. I think one of them started a help thread in Electronics after TattoKenny (I think) mentioned something to them. Something like that... |

I'd drink it if it was free I guess... I guess I'm just upity. I drink a lot more Leinenkugel (Big Butt Doppelboch), New Castle, and Killians.. American beer is gross.

I drink enough of it to be on the Team! Ha! Cheap, effective, not too strong of a flavor... I prefer anything Great Lakes, and most IPAs, but I'd rather not drink my money away, so I cheap out usually. |

| You do realize Leinie's is an American Company right? They brew Big Butt in Chippewa Falls, WI with water from the Big Eddie Spring. We used to joke about Big Eddie being a horse.:-P Their Northwoods Lager is pretty good as well.

I've got 2 Sidewinders, a Mamba Maxx, 2 Mamba 25's, and 3 CC BEC's, I want a free Castle Link too. Last edited by Grizzly4x4; 05-22-2008 at 03:05 PM. | |
