| What to get my 6 year old?
Ok, my son will be 6 on Saturday and I am having problems deciding which truck to get him. He has a pretty fast Stampede that he loves to Drive (loves his EVIL grin when he's driving it). He also likes driving my 2.2 crawler. So I am not sure what to get him, I am think about either a stock TLT or a one of those Associated RC18MT RTR trucks. I'd like to get something he could drive both indoors and out.

Depends on his driving ability. The RC18 is FAST. I've heard of some kids having trouble with it. If you do go that way, maybe build a 4 cell pack, maybe even a 2500mah 4 cell pack, see cheapbatterypacks.com monster pack for an idea. I don't have that much experience with the TLT but the one I saw in the LHS seemed kinda limited? Seemed slow and like it wouldn't crawl over much since it was so small. But, for a young driver, it might work out good as an intro to crawlers. -Jay |

the rc 18 is awesome i have onethere soo much fun but there really fast and there not really "offoroad" trucks but the tlt on the other hand is like both with a decent sized motor it will be fast but yet if he wanted he could go and do some real fun off roading and its a pretty un breakable as well id go with the TLT i had the same situation with my lil brother and i got him the mini and bought my self a stock tlt and well soon enough we switched cause he played with my tlt more than i did |

Yea, his Stampede is already very fast for him. I have it hopped up pretty well. I think I will go with a TLT or if I can find a good price on a used TXT I may go that way as well.

Thanks but I just picked up a TLT Combo kit from www.ultimatehobbies.com http://www.ultimatehobbies.com//p694.html Pretty good deal and with the TLT we can tear it apart at a later date a build a bigger better crawler. |

Get him a TLT, get the parts he needs to make it a crawler, give him tools and say "Let 'er rip, when you can put it together, you can crawl" and maybe show him a few things, and tighten the screws after he does his best... get involed ;)
