Default When was the first USRCCA Nationals?

Was the first RC Crawling Nationals held in 06? I don't think there was one before that was there? Who's got the knowledge for me?

I need this info for an article I'm working on.

The Utah guys held the first couple, they were the first "bigger" comps that people went to from out of state. When it cam time to do a true Nationals we worked with them and decided to use the same date they had been using.

This year though will officially be the 3rd.

I remember it as 07. Is that correct?

A couple guys were running it in '06, if I remember right. '07 the majority had it at nats.

Yeah, that's the way I remember it also, the ones in '06 were hand made slip collar digs....the things we used to have to solve on our own!!

Anyone care to explain how this worked? Did it disengage the shaft somehow?

Male shaft on both outputs (axle and transmission). The sliding portion is female and depending on the setup, it may also engage a brake when it disengages the shafts. The Male shafts are held together by a pin of some sort with space between them to allow movement during suspension flex.

Art, how did you manage to dig up this thread??

IMO the shaft collar was much better than any manufactured dig that came after. . More reliable too.

At this point shouldn't it be "worlds", not "nationals"? And I don't miss driveshaft digs one bit.
