Default Ebay delima?????

I have listed one of my scalers on the bay and everything was going fine untill........I started getting bids from outside the US.
I had clearly stated in my listing 3 times that i would not ship outside the US. Then this guy from Africa bid but he said his brother lives in Kansas and that I could ship it to him. I know theirs a lot of fraud comming out of Africa by way of mail. Is their a way I can get scammed this way as far as you guys know? Im a little worried but this is the last day of my auction and I really want to sell it but I dont want to get screwed either!!!

I dont know how or if you can contact ebay and let them know about this possible scam, But do not accept the bid from Africa, And do not ship it anywhere for them...

Unless he pays for it fully by paypal, Before its shipped, But I highly doubt he will and give you some B.S. story

Either way, I would say cancel their bid

i would cancel the bid
i did the same on some stuff and a guy in brazil wound up winning the auction and it took a couple of months to resolve the shipping and finalize the deal, not worth the hassle IMO. It was gonna cost me $567 to ship the box from midwest to him in Brazil for confirmed shipping and he would not pay for the extra shipping cost, Long story short big PIA.

It is a SCAM. Do not allow the sale to him!

If I accept his bid, and he wins but doesnt pay me quickly or if he starts with excuses can I then decline the sell to him and give it to the next highest bidder? The only problem with that is he is also from another country friggin Indonesia....

yeah,... its called a second chance offer, but the previous bidder does not have to accept.

cancel Africa's bid and edit your listing to state no forieg bidders.. period... i had some jerk from germany pull that crap on my and shipping was more then the item cost... he paid.. but mailing overseas sucks! no confirmation, no ins... dont do it.. cancel and be done with it!

Cancel their bids. End of story. It's not worth it. If they aren't respectful enough to follow your clearly stated auction rules, don't expect them to follow through with the deal.

If I ever receive a 2nd chance bid offer, I delete it as I just assume the seller had a buddy bid on the auction to raise the final selling price.

Even if they're legit, those offers seem shady to me.

I had this awhile ago and got burned.

They pay quick using a hacked Paypal. Then you ship, then the real owner claims a Paypal fraud and you lose the product and the money.

If I cancel his bid does it go directly to the 2nd highest bidder? That wont help me out much cause he is the Indonesian dude!
I guess Ill have to cancel his bid as well? Is their a time limit as to how close to the end of the auction you can cancel a bid?

The seller can eliminate anyone from the bidding at their discretion.

I think its within 24 hours of auction ending that you cannot cancel bids. If your within 24 hours of ending I would contact Ebay right away. My girl has had that problem selling her camera equipment, specifically out of Africa. They want you to end the auction or pay alot more than the auction is going for then they send you a very real looking fake paypal email with the total they want to pay but ask you to ship first (one of many overseas scams) She contacted Ebay right away and they took care of it. They keep a good watch for these people and will be more than happy to help you.

They seem to target people with little feedback or new members.

Thanks for all the replies fellas! The auction was a success , but not without a little drama! I canceled the dude from Africa and the other guy from Indonesia With only 30 min left which left me with the bid at 250.00 Then I received a few more bids which got me back to my reserve!! Hell the guy Is wanting to contract some work to build him a bumper and a roof rack for his current model!!!
Alls well that ends well!!! Thanks again guys!!!!

i made my living off ebay for about 2 years and we always sent out 2nd chance offers. This is because we were selling brand new items and if it sold rather well we could make the extra money with duplicate product.

Not to me you wouldn't.

An example: If I bid $500 on something, and up until the last seconds it's at $250. Suddenly, the winning bid jumps to $505. If the final winning bid wasn't placed, I win the auction for $250. I then get a 2nd chance offer for my maximum bid of $500. As far as I'm concerned, they made $250 on that little scam.

I had same problem with non US bidder winning some camera equipment even though I said NO outside US bidders. E-bay told me that in the future I can set up the Auction to automatically reject bids from outside the US. Havent had a chance to figure out how yet, but they say the option is there.

Default Check box's in creating auction

At the bottom of the first main page when creating the auction, there is a box that looks like this:

Click the image to open in full size.

If you have not set it up before, then it never happens.
First in the yellow header, click to 'add and remove options'.
In the box that opens, make sure you check the box to 'Block certain Ebayers from buying my items'.

After that then you select the blue text to 'Change buyer requirements'.
Low feedback scores,
no feedback scores,
in countries you won't ship to

Not sure you can do all this now or not.
Try cancelling their bids, then modify the auction
- ship to locations (no international, or canada only?)
- then what I have shown above.

good luck.
