why not just have a twice a weekend a month event at RCAVE?
Digger, i KNOW you can set up one hell of a trials course....so lets just combine that into some off-road terrain and some other obsticles and do it there. I doubt you'll get many people to do it if its any way NEAR 50 bucks a head...

We also have been scouting a site near Clear Creek PA (the state campgrounds) a bit north of here. there are some HUGE sites and camping would only be about 9 bucks a person (for 3 ppl per site...less if we have more ppl) for a 3 day weekend.

I like the idea of making a serious event out of this and spending the evening BS'ing over the fire lol

anyone else have any ideas??

btw Digger, what are you plannin on using as a base for your crawler? (ie txt, clod, custom, X-factor etc....)??

I don't know what it would cost in all actuality, I just threw that out off the top of my head! We could try to get something together at rc ave no problem, but I'm sure we would want to get at least one or two under our belts before planning a bi monthly event! LOL! We have plenty of natural terrain around the track and even room for camping if we stretch it to 2 days, otherwise we could all sit around a couple tiki torches instead of a campfire! LOL

As for the base for my crawler, I've started building up an unloved and neglected emaxx. I've added a cordless drill reduction unit and locked up the tranny and rear diff. Front diff will be locked soon, it will have 4ws and more torque with a larger motor soon as well. It works very well!

I just went out to that 4wd club tonight and did some crawling around with my emaxx. This place ROCKS! you guys HAVE to check this out! TC took some pics of my maxx trying to climb up one of the rocky hill climbs that give 1:1 crawlers fits! It was great!

I for one would love to see a crawler group started here in PA.
there are a lot of parks and hiking trails around here. I am a member
of paragon off road adventure park in hazelton PA. I dont know if they
would allow something like this or what it would cost but it would be a real
nice place for this but we can always try.I'll try to help in any way I can.

Sounds like we have a Western and an Eastern PA group. A crawl in Hazelton would suit me...once I have a crawler done. Of course I could still run up there even if I dont have a crawler done.

The 4wd club I was meaning is called Westco Highlands, near Stahlstown, PA. It was similar to Paragon, but has since become a much more private place over the years. They no longer hold public events or runs and the only way to get in is with a member. Still it's an awesome place to crawl around. I agree, it does seem as if there are 2 different groups forming here, east and west...lol Oh well, all the more fun to have east-meets-west crawl-offs! LOL!
