Default Kinda Bummed!

Halloween has always been one of my favorite holidays.

Growing up we had 100s of Trick or Treaters. Everyone wore a costume, everyone said "trick or Treat, and everyone said thank you. It's just how we were raised. As an adult, I always buy a ton of candy to give away and used to enjoy giving the candy away and seeing the kids costumes. The last few years has been a real let down.

The kids that are in costumes are usually to young to speak and Mommy or Daddy are carrying the bag. I'm sure that 2 year old is going to eat that bag full of Snickers. The other kids either don't bother to wear a costume or just put on a mask, they don't say, "Trick or Treat" much less thank you. They just stand there looking at you like, "hurry up".

I used to look down on people who turned off their porch light and didn't give away candy to the kids, but the ways things have been going, I might do the same next year.

You have trick or treaters come to your house? In the 8 years I've lived here I've not had one stop, ever.

People must not like me...

I've had quite a few already tonight....they all had excellent costumes, all said "T or T"....and ALL said "Thank you".....it has been a good evening.

Gonna watch a good horror flick later tonight....."Splinter"......it should be in the theaters in a few months...

Yup, I been handing candy out all night, half the time after I drop 3-4 things in the kids bag and I'm giving some to another kid, the kid I just gave some too has his/her hand in the bowl getting more.

That sucks DEZ. That is how my old hood use to be. I moved to a different part of town it is like it was in the old days.
I buy tons of candy and leave it out for them to grab in a big old metal wash tub. Also put a sign on there saying take as much as your parents would want you too.

This has been a great Halloween! I had an emergency call out at a recreation center and there were a bunch of good looking bikinis running around

Edit: ^^ There were 2 HOT women that answered the door in very little. One had a little tart costume on that barely covered her nipples. I'm not sure what she was, but she looked good doing it.

I had a good halloween with the kids. The wife stayed and handed out candy and I took my boys. This is a new neighborhood, but it seems like they're making some effort.

When it comes to me handing out candy, I make the kids say it or I won't give any. Even the real little ones. "You have to say Trick or Treat or no candy!" I usually get TICK R TREEEEEEEEEEET from the little ones. That's fine with me.

Even the big kids having no business being out there. I make them say trick or treat even if they don't have a costume. Dammit, if I'm giving free candy, I'm going to be amused by it. I also tend to hold out for Thank You's before I drop the candy.

I'm used to expecting it from karate and the kids that we train there. I hand out the cups for water during basics, I have no problem not giving a kid something if they don't display good manners. I've made a few parents upset because little Johnny doesn't get water because he's a little unmannered brat. Screw him and screw you parent. i'll be happy to teach you some manners if that's what it takes.

We went through about five, three pound bags of candy at my house. Everyone was wearing costumes and always says "trick or treat" and thank you. Pretty much opposite of your experience.

Man it was a Norman Rockwell Halloween in my neighborhood!!!! Hundreds of kids from 5ish to after 9pm. Most dressed well and well behaved. Did see quite a few of the "skip the thankyou and hurry up kids", lol, but on average a great group and night. several houses had haunted houses set up in garages and houses (almost professional in scale, was suprised), several cul-de-sacs had block type parties set up in the street. Great night everyone was kids again.

Posting pics in "Halloween Pics" thread.

Yea, I'm watching Ghost Hunters too, lol

We use to get a lot of kids here but the last few years it slow down form 200+ to 25 kids. They do a lot at the schools and churches so that cut it down to next to nothing. Living in a farming area we got a lot of field hand families. I remember getting moms pushing a strollers up and having a kid a year old in it and asking for candy... I told them no but I'd give candy to their older kids. This year we had 5 kids ...the neighborhoods.

Who wants candy

Our neighborhood had tons of kids when we moved in 25 years ago. About 10 years ago they just tapered off and then there where some years with none at all it was sad. Last couple of years the numbers have came back and I really enjoy the holiday again.
