Re: real crawling question!!!

CTM might be able to make you a set of 300M, cryo treated shafts. They are spendy but you best be hardcore if yer gonna run 44's on a Sammy axle.
My friend had a set made for his D60R, $3000 with CTM u joints.

Yer gonna destroy balljoints, knuckles, and ring and pinions after you get shafts that live.

Re: real crawling question!!!

Anything will fit....you'll just have to narrow them down. But i wouldbnt go too narrow if i were you.

Re: real crawling question!!!

Oh, did you mean axleshafts that will fit in your stock housings, or axle housings to replace your stock ones?

Narrow up some high pinion Dana 60's, then put CTM shafts and Ujoints in them, that'd be the way to go. Or hell, run em full width  . You dont want sheetmetal anyway right.

Re: real crawling question!!!

I knew a guy that put some 35 spline Ford 9" shafts into Zuk housings. He ran 40's and I know that the Curries chopped them down for him.

What ever you do will have to be cut and modded.

Re: real crawling question!!!

thanks everyone this is really helpful i would have to use the ring$pinion out of what ever i get the axels from right full width axels would stick way out of the axel sleeves right how does that work and no i dont care about sheet metal

Re: real crawling question!!!

Geez! Easy boys. I saw a Zuk(not much left of a ZUk) that ran 44's. It was stretched to over 110 inches and was widened quite a bit. believe it or not, it worked well as a crawler.
44's are big but you can alway build around the tire to make the rig bigger. That's basically what I did with the Digler after mounting the Kongs.
His way wouldn't be my way but I guess it works for him.

Re: real crawling question!!!

44" tires on a Zuk. That's funny.

Hey Does Thunder tech make an adapter to put 31's on my TXT?

See how silly you sound. The tires would be less than 4 feet apart. Dude get real. You would have to run some 10.13 gears or something. My buddies got 35"s on a sami and that thing will go anywhere. A sami motor would never turn those tires. EVER!

Not trying to be a dick but come on!

Re: real crawling question!!!

Maybe he'll put a V8 in. They put them in Miatas!

Also....he did say that he was going to stretch the wheel base to 100 inches or more.

hey anythings possible with a welderLOL and no this isnt a joke

Re: real crawling question!!!

Well If you can do it I'd run a chevy 14 bolt rear from a cab and chassis which is 63" wide and at least Dana 44 front cut 4" of the long side, if not a D60. I beleive that'll be 65" wide. Now I'm measuring from the WMS to WMS. That's wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface. And at a 100" that's not quite 5 1/2 feet between tires. Not too bad. Go watch Top Truck Challenge from 2000 there's a Sami on 35"s in there that is sweet.

Sorry BigRed, I've spent too much time on the Pirate board.

Re: real crawling question!!!

i was going to put 33" on it but like i said i wont be satisfied uless theres 44" i was giong to put 60s or 14 bolts but im going to cut up some 60 axels and put them in my stock housing

Re: real crawling question!!!

Put some spooled rockwell 2 1/2 tons under it. And a Merlin 665ci BB and then a well biult turbo 400 with a np205 mated with an np231. Then some high angle driveshafts. Then some big Michilen tires. :D

Re: real crawling question!!!

give the guy a break, it can be done and it WILL be different 8O . We don't know what kinda terrain he's building for. It wouldn't work too well here (unless he likes to go turtle a lot) but it might work where he is.
I've had 44's on a rig once (CJ w/ 60's, still not enough axle with stock parts)...never again....well, I can't say never
