Default Blew my ring and pinion!!!!!!!!!

Today sucks, i down shifted into second to slow down for a stop sign, then Bang, my rear end locked up, and tossed my drive shaft off. the pinions at a funked up angle, and oil spilled out. the cop thought it was funny, he had the same thing happen a week ago. can anyone give me about 1500 to get it fixed, thanks.

Did you forget to revmatch, or is your car american made?

That really sucks, if it is american, go get a axle from a junkyard and bolt it on. Probably cheaper.

I feel your pain.

One day on Ft. Gordon I stopped, shut off the Willys, got out, and saluted as the flag went down.

Got back in, fired it up, and started driving.

The speed limit was 25MPH and I was going easy. The tranny (TH350) shifted from first to 2nd and *pop* FAWK!

Didn't do much but scare the crap outta me.

Pulled over, opened up the toolbox, removed the rear driveshaft, locked the hubs, shifted the Dana 300 into FWD and drove home.

$1300 later it was back on the road.

I would have taken the shaft off the t case, but the damn axle locked, so it wouldnt have mattered.

The reason it cost so much is, the list
New ring and pinion,
powertrax no slip locker,
anti sway bar,
brakes,
shocks
front brakes,
trac bar,
and a few other things.

I am not a full size off roader, i am building this truck for speed.

I have owned a ford and chevy, and will never go back, after three 350 crate motors, F chevy, and two ford transmissions. Dodge or nothing.

It has to be American, anything else wouldn't have made it that far.

I'm sorry but you said you're building this truck for speed, HAHAHA. That's some funny **** A dakota built for speed, HAHAHA. You'd have a faster rig if it was a Pinto w/ a 302, or maybe a Maverick. A quick dakota, HAHAHA.

Just kidding, you have to build what you got, I totally understand. It just sounds a little funny, that's all. I mean look at me, for speed I'm building a 65 Falcon Coupe with a 347 stoker. Of course, the bare block sits in my garage, the car in the side yard, the 9" rear end is at my shop, etc. etc. etc.

i know it sounds cool, but there isnt any real good reason to downshift and tach out the mill to slow down. simply pushing on the brake pedal slows the rig down just fine and saves alot of drivetrain drama.

besides, brakes are alot easier and cheaper to replace than a clutch, trans, or rear end.

Let me guess, you think it has a V6, well, it has a built 318 V8, and will outrun all the damn hondas in the town.

I used to tow a 27 foot camper with it, so it was brake and downshift. i still downshift, and always will, i was only going 20, so in second the tach was at 1800. not much at all, it redlines at 5500.

Don't take it personal, it just sounds funny. I figured it had a V-8 in it, I just couldn't resist poking a little fun, that's all. But, as far as outrunning Honda's, **** my 4.0 V-6 Exploder (2 wheel drive) does that, and it only took a little work to get it there. But take it easy, not trying to step on your toes. And yes, I down shift mine when I pull up to a stop, never had a problem with it. I doubt that down shifting had anything to do with it. I would think that maybe the pinion nut came loose which let the pinion drop down inside a little which jammed the rear end and you came to a stop.

Have you taken the pig apart yet? What's it look like?
