I've never had that Nugget Nectar, but have gotten many recommendations for it.

DickyT, I swear it seems like anything Belgium is good. Sure seems like it anyways.

Weyerbacher Merry Monks belgium triple is excellent. If your looking for a belgian style beer.

Default Forgotten xmas present...

So, I was at my mom's place for diner the other night and she started telling me that she found some beer in her wine closet and thought it must be mine. Her only explaination of it was "I think it's called DOGsomething". So, i went to see WTF she was talking about and opened the closet to see this!!!!

Turns out my wife got them for me when they were available as a xmas present and totally forgot about them!!

SCORE!!!!

ClassicGMJunkie gave me a few bottles of Mackesons Triple Stout a while back. I have to say that it's one of the best tasting brews I've had in a very very long time.

For an every day drink, I've been enjoying the Guiness Black Lager lately.

Nothing special, just a Newcastle Brown Ale. Nice flavour (at least to me anyways) and a clean finish.

I got a 12 pack of this from my Girlfriend's brother-in-law as a belated birthday present. I'm usually not a fan of Lagers but it's not too bad.

I would buy that, no matter the cost!

That Lagunitas is malty, isn't it? That's how my brain remembers it.

I heard Dogfish Head has a 75 minute IPA coming soon.

Well, it's true. And I bought one. Bottle fermented with maple syrup. Dude said it was great and somewhat sweet. Bottle is warm, so I started with the Resin.

It's out of New York, made by Sixpoint. Skinny, weird, tall cans that hold an Imperial IPA, meaning 9.1% ABV. Woo hoo! So far it's pretty good and surprisingly masked all but the super very last hint of alcohol. Nothing stands out really, so good balance. Pretty much pine and mild malt for me. Not much on the citrus front. The glass is completely coated with uh... what's that called... lacing? My mouth is a bit sticky too, but I guess that's part of the decision to call it Resin. It goes down easy, which could be dangerous.

Throw in a six of fantastically citrusy IPA from The Brew Kettle, and a fresh 30 of Natty Ice and my wallet is out $45 in one hit.

Should be a GREAT weekend.

I meant in relation to other um... more balanced IPAs. It leans slightly towards the malty side more than the uh, less malty side?

Heck I could probably go back and see what I said about it, but meh. Don't care that much.

Cheers!

My personal shopper, wife, brought this home the other night... way to malty. I had to fire her.

I tried a six of Newcastle Brown Ale about 15 years ago, and never had any other Brown Ales. ever. again. And Newcastle is like water and totally unoffensive, but it just wasn't for me.

The kreik was delicious. A massive and full head of an almost unappealingly deep pink quickly disappears to live a rich vibrant red beer underneath. You'll have to use your imagination as none of the pics I took do it any justice.

Strong wet lemony (not vinegary) and very sour opening which is abruptly smashed with a drying of the whole tongue. All of the wonderful flavors of the barrel come sweeping in with an undertone of the main astringent flavor, the cherry. This is not a sweet beer by any measure. The brett is pronounced, but it's not dominating. The sour leaves and you get a perfect match of brett and cherry. The timing on the palette is just amazing.

And an old favorite, Old Suffolk. This is a beer for you EeePee. If you see it grab it, it just might change the way you think about brown ales.
