Default Toyota and/or Transmission guys

I have a 98 Toyota Tacoma 4x4 with a 3z 4cyl motor, My auto trans is slipping going into overdrive but shifts good through the gears could this be an electrical problem or could it be the clutches??

What have you done to it recently?
When was last oil change?
When was the last trans flush?
How many miles are on it?
Did it happen suddenly or has it been getting progressively worse?

Does it get worse up hills or accelerating fast?
How noticable is it? (every auto trans "slips" a little)

I bought the truck at 80,000 miles, I was told that with the color of the oil it wasn't wise to change the trans fluid she has 180,000 miles on it now, The slipping started today on my way home, kicked it in to pass a car and when I started slowing down it would not go back into overdrive. I put it in neutral a few times didn't help. I stopped cut off the motor went inside a store for 10 mins started it drove off same thing, put in neutral again twice and it finally went in OD, after that it would go in OD but would hesitate.

I was a trans tech for chrysler. From what im reading you have 180000 miles on the original fluid. When you looked at the fluid was it a dark brown/ black color and you might be able to see the clutch material and were to smell it it would have a burnt smell if it does you might be loosing a clutch pack in one of the planeteries. Without seeing it in person it hard to tell what the problem actually could be. I would advise taking to a mechanic. What ever you do DO NOT flush the transmission with those kinds of miles. They should be able to drop the pan and see what is going on.
