My work area in the corner of my garage. I also do woodworking, so the rest of the garage is pretty much a mess. This is a picture from last year...it's not that pretty right now...... |

Used to use this equipment to build stuff for 1:1 rigs. Now I'm working only on RC - cracks my wife up. Here's a view of where I do most of my work. About 5 years ago I converted my manual lathe to 3 axis CNC using a Centroid Retrofit. Having it now for just hobby stuff makes just about anything possible given the 1:10 scale. The Mori Seiki lathe to the right came with a 14" 4 jaw chuck on it. I've swapped it out for a much smaller 8" chuck. I used to stuff 2" 7075 Aluminum through the massive 2.1" through-hole to make links for Comp buggies. Quite a contrast to the 3/8" link material I use for lowers now. Probably the best part is the tooling I've built up for it over the past 5 or so years. When I see someone do a mod on their rig, I usually have the tooling to pull it off on mine. I've always been a tool guy and building what ever I want is my primary hobby. Just so turns out that I dig the 4x4 RC thing too...they're so much cheaper to build than the 1:1's and if I buy a 3' piece of material, I can build more arms than I know what to do with and have plenty of room to store the left-overs. Can't say that for the 1:1 stuff. |

I have a metal bench top I had bent out of 3/16" steel. And put it on a 2"x4" bench I built. This sits out in the garage. |

my new inside work area / study. Still have to do the messy stuff out in the garage , but this gets most of the r/c stuff out the spare bedroom and stops me working on the dining table |

I use a large drafting table and when it spills off of that the dinning room table is just next to it. We don't use the dinning room table much. The drafting table is laminate so its very easy to clean.

For now I work on my stuff either on the coffee table or if I am soldering something or cutting stuff then it's in the laundry room. Sad thing is I have a 650 sq/ft garage with built in shelving and 20k worth of tools, but until we find a home for the wife's cat I have been displaced, anyone want a cat? lol. I and my son are allergic and we just built this house, my in-laws had been keeping the cat for the last 8 months, but my MIL decided to just bring it over one day and dump it out at the new house without telling us. Gotta love in-laws. But once I get him placed in a new home I will have a pretty sweet set-up going on.
