Stainless steel screws....$ ouch! I just ordered 900 piece kit of M2, M3, and M4 stainless steel screws. $81! I've been getting sick of digging through my screw boxes trying to find 4 matching screws for a build! I've bought countless AX-10 stainless kits from the local hobby shop at $29 a pop! So I figured I would bite the bullet and order a big kit from RC ScrewZ. What are you guys using that are building all the time? Are you using metric or standard? |
M3 on almost everything,,,ss and black oxide,,,do you have a link for the company? i'd like a huge count of M3 lock nuts |
Metric for this part of the world. Most kits nowadays use metric hardware. I also buy bulk screws straight from a factory. Problem is they only make cap heads but for .1 cent a screw it's worth it. |
I use all metric stuff except in a few odd cases. We have a local shop, AAA Metric, and their screws are dirt cheap and better quality than the RCScrewz stuff. I've rounded off a lot of RCScrewz hexes. I think MCMaster Carr has pretty good prices on small screws too. I think last time I went to AAA I got a bag of 100 nylock 3mm nuts for like 3-4 bucks"thumbsup" |

I get all mine from McFadden-Dales hardware. You can buy 1 screw at a time or by the box of 100, any size, finish, head etc. |

http://www.aaametric.com/ I don't know if they do mail order, the place is 15 minutes away from my work. Edit: too slow. |

I generally use 3mm in black oxide. I hate SS, it gets boogered up too easily. |
Any reason you didn't go to either Fastenal or McMaster? If you know the sizes you need you could get them for probably half that price from either. |

I typically use fastenal. Pretty cheap there. |
I like to just go to McMaster. Good prices, pretty good quality and you get to choose the sizes you get unlike a "hardware kit" Seems like some of the kits you buy, there is always a couple sizes you won't use. That,IMO,just raises the price per piece of the ones you actually use. |

X2."thumbsup" Plus the fact that when I order through work,I don't have to pay the shipping.:mrgreen:Company does that,I just piggy back on their orders. |
mcmaster carr and micro fastners.com is who i use |
Stainless steel screws suck. Black oxide is strong and the heads last much longer. |
