| Losi Mini LST
I was just curious who here owns one. I looked at one at the hobby shop and the build quality is amazing. Its the most solid feeling mini I have come across. No slop, beefy parts, and a nice size too. Its $199.99 at the hobby shop, which is what it is looking like it is everywhere. So here's the newbie questions. Whats the cheapest place to buy one? (I'll go LHS if it is $200 everywhere) What are the most commonly broken parts? (from what I've read it is the pinions in the diffs, and the wheel hexes) And is the included battery, charger and radio of good quality, or junk? (haven't found info on this) I'm looking for a new dorm room RC, and this kind of fits the bill. |

I'v been driving the store demo with a mamba brushless. The only thing that has broken is the front bumper. We beat the crap out of it 3-4' of air to flat cement landings. The radio is ok it gets glitchy at distance though. I never drove it stock so I couldn't tell you the stock performance. It's super fun! Cole Last edited by Cole82; 12-18-2005 at 04:22 PM. |

Here's a vid from Beat Your Truck.com's forums. http://www.dennisnadams.com/tmaxx/LS...irst_drive.wmv Stock performance has been described as slower than expected but decent for a stock truck. They are tough though, check out the hit the one in the vid takes. Last edited by Trike Kid; 12-18-2005 at 02:50 PM. |

I bet a 380 brushless would make it rock! the mamba is a 180 can size.

I believe they're dual motor, so dual Mambas or Warp 4's would rip.

A guy at the LHS said someone was running a dual brushless at the track for almost two hours with no breakages.

if your easy on it. the big problem with going brushless is that Losi used a crappy soft plastic material for the diff gears, and where under more than stock conditions, will fail. Reports say that the new trucks have been upgraded with a tougher plastic. but im wating for the center spool and AL. diff gears before mine see a Hyperion 6000KV. with 3 cell li-po. heres the report on stock: Good- 1.handles great 2.takes a BIG beating and never broke a part. 3.Decent top speed for a truck with that size tire. 4.FM synthesized radio Bad- 1.diff strips under more than stock power 2.center diff transfer most power to front Fix-drop a mini-t ball diff to act as a LSD 3.ball cups pop off easly. other than those im competely happy with it. i paid $200 for mine from the LHS. | My only 2cents to add... My LHS has said they've had 3 come back to the shop with the trany gears all f'd up. They say it's not just one gear, but two that are chewed/stripped. |

The only problem i see with it is that they used Mini-T tranny gears in the transfer case, and the outputs will strip even with a stock 280 with a light Mini-T to haul around. A spool would be the way to go, and I'll bet somebody's got one in the works already.

They have a center diff, which is the diff out of a mini-t like microgoat said. But you can run a mini-t ball diff in the center and that has solved the problem, as well as there is a spool that has been announced, I don't know how much, or when though.

Got a mini LST for christmas, ran about two packs through it and then tore it down to see what I had to work with. It has some potential for a mini crawler, the diff housing is built into the bulkhead, so it's kind of a block when tore down by itself. Might be best to do a suspention arm lock out like the maxx guys do. Make a plate to bolt to the top of the diff with solid links to the shock mounts on the lower arms. Make my own chassis with 4 link made out of turnbuckles and ballcups from a 1/10 losi buggy or truck. 4 mini-t shocks. One mini servo, (like a 1/12 scale would use) not the micro ones that come in it. Use the stock tranny, ditch the center diff for a spool as soon as someone makes one. Lock the diffs front and rear. Stock ratios: Diff - 2.71:1, Tranny - 2.71:1, Spur & pinion - 2.34:1 Final drive ratio: 17.18:1 I could make a one sided motor plate and spur adaptor to use large 1/10 scale buggy or truck spurs and a small pinion on the stock frenzy motor. That would easily put it down arround 60:1, that should be plenty slow enough. When I get the crawler project done I'm working on now I'll start on the mini LST |
