Another venture. Been doing alot of net browsing lately and the rc drag cars have caught my eye. So im going to step out into a new venture and take it up a notch. Rc sand dragsters. I have talked to some of the lhs owners and racers who run dirt and they say there would be a good interest on thier off weekends. We have 40 acres here on the farm so this spring we will start construction on a 66 foot sand strip, and hopefully start having comps in late april, as long as it doesnt keep me from missing a crawling comp :) . Really looking forward to this. I have quite a few ideas for topfuel, funny car and 4WD jeep tube frames. First of the year I will start getting set up with some of the specialty parts manufacturers and distributers and put this into motion. The new site rcsanddragsters.com will be up mid january hopefully. |
You just gave me an idea for that Tamiya WW body. Didn't want to make a crawler because it really isn't scale enough. It will make a nice dragger though. |
Glad I could help. That will be $5 for sparking the idea. :flipoff: Gotta pay for this new venture somehow. My son is almost out of college money with the tubewerks venture. |
And I thought RC Crawling was a small niche... Good luck, and it sounds awesome. |
I can't believe how this RC dragster thing is taking off so much. That is all I hear about lately. |
What type of motor are you going with? Motors wound for large burst currents would kick ***. The sky is the limit with the motor power if it is in bursts. |
All the prototypes will be direct drive. Planning on running 7 to 10 turn motors in them with servo avtivated micro switches instead of speed controls. Running a cobalt or neo would be great but the people around here would go into sticker shock at the price. But a 7 turn motor on a direct drive rear end should interesting on a 66 foot run. |
