Default Who's enjoying Unemployment?

Not sure if this has been posted already?

I sure am enjoying it. Been off and on for the last 8 months or so. The wife works in a lab at the University so we are still making enough to get by. And am getting to drive my crawlers a lot!

So how many of you guys are on unemployment? Do you like it or not?

Been unemployed for 4 years. Been building, and playing with my RC's.

No, honestly, I am not enjoying it - seriously!

I've been out of work for a few months now, but only because I had a brain tumor removed and currently undergoing radiation treatments to get what the surgeon couldn't cut out. I probably won't be able to start collecting unemployment until May (treatments will be done and I can start looking for work). I'm kicking around the idea of going back to school too to be a radiology tech. I"m getting really bored and wish I was working. Plus the only income is from my fiance and shes a teacher. Things are a little tight, but I'll get through it.

I have enjoyed it for 3 years. But i recently finished school and I'm looking for work. Matter of fact, I have an interview today @ 4:00 with Caterpillar!

It was fun while it lasted but I'm ready to get back to work!

i have been on unemployment for a year.
funny timing with this thread, because today or
tomorrow they will be told to shove it.

they cant get me a job, they just want me to go on
courses for no reason. i have done about 5.

i do some cash work for a mate, so i can get by
but they just know everything. if i fart in there
general direction from my house, they know and cease
my payments.

i go in hand the forms in, they say the money will be
in your bank and its not. my bills get taken out and i
get charged overdraw fee's. and -100 odd dollars in
my bank. and no money for the weekend.

luckily i dont have kids and am at home with my folks,
so my outgoings are minimal. i just cant stand the b/s
that goes with it. they at any time can look up my bank
records back till god knows when.

this has gone a bit off topic- :?

yeh the time off is good time to evaluate/reevaluate things.
time to spend with family and do things you dont normally
have time for.

the bad part is what i mentioned, and people getting on
to me like its there life. "you cant do this your whole life"
life is short and i can do what i want. a break for a couple of years
wont do me any harm.

I can't really say that I've been fully laid off....more like cut back I guess. For the last year I've had a week off every month, I had two weeks off over christmas and new years. Honestly it sucks and I'm glad things are picking back up for us and they've been telling us that we should be back to full time from now on. I am greedy, the more I work, the more money I make and the more toys I can buy. Before everything crashed I was working 120+ hours every two week pay period, then in 2008 they cut all overtime....there went 10 grand from my annual income....then in 2009 they cut us back to 3 weeks a month....there went another 10 grand from my income. We still get by with my unemployment filling in the gaps and my wife fortunatly has a good job as a radiology/mammography tech.
But seriously after over a year and a half of scraping by I'm ready to start cranking out the overtime again, I was perfectly happy working 6 and sometimes 7 10-12 hour days a week. Didn't have much time off, but at least when I had time off my bank account was loaded with money begging to be spent.

Ive been unemployed for a little over a year and hate it. I have been told "you're hired" 4 times since then but have yet to work a day, its ridiculous.
I was looking at buying a house before I was laid off, but stuck in a crappy apartment now.

I'm getting sick of it. Due to cut hours this summer, my check sucks.
I got laid off the 2nd week of december, and my return to work date is april 1st. I work construction, so this happens every winter. But being the mechanic, I usually only get 6 weeks off. I can't wait to get out of the house.

Like many others who have lost their jobs, I'm sick and tired of it to tell you the truth, I got laid off indefinately last August. Didn't qualify for UIF and all our savings are gone, luckily were able to get by on what the wife brings in, although the kids had a pretty lousy Christmas. We will lose our house very soon if things don't turn around, or maybe even if they do. Anyway, I'm still gratefull for the little we have and shouldn't complain.
Just need to get back to work ASAP, that's all.

I got a temp retirement (TDRL) from the Air Force. August 08. If it was not for what I get from that and my GI bill school money we would be really hurting. Its tight now I only have the internet for school, we cut out everything we could. Its getting better only owe $400 on my Jeep and we should have my wifes Honda CR-V paid off when we get our tax money back. So I may get my cable back I have been streaming everything I can to break up my studying.

I understand, and I really feel for you. The depression gets really bad at times. Dont think there is anything I can say to make it better, or easier.
I guess, just know you arent alone in it brother.
