| American Pickers!
Has anyone watched it? I think it came on History or Discovery. Only been one episode so far, its pretty cool my uncle does stuff like that. I got some stuff laying around at home and plan on being an "American Picker." Being in a small town knowing everybody, and everybody owns a farm, it shouldn't be pretty hard to come up with stuff. Looks like it makes good money to. On the show they sold a sign for $300 and my uncle did too.

I started watching it becaust it did look like kind of a cool show, but the two "pickers" that host the show have to be a couple of the most annoying people I've ever seen on TV so I changed the channel.

| I've gotta agree on that but the stuff they find is just amazing. Like the carnival ride they gave $1500 for and polished it up and sold it for 3k. Just amazing, just think if you did that in your free time it could pay for you rc hobbies. Well at least mine.

It reminds me of work.. I'm a photographer for an antique auction house. I see awesome old stuff every day. If you know a lot about the stuff you can make a lot of money buying and selling. Auctions are a little known resource i think. Only thing that sucks is,, while i work the auctions, i can't bid. I can only leave left bids.. i get lucky every now and then and win a bid. Last auction i bought a box lot for 20$, Sold the contents for $175. |

I think it's a cool show! The guys don't bother me, I'd be that happy to if all I did was ride around hunting for old stuff and made that kind of $ doing it!

Its cool seeing what they come up with out there. It also gives you a perspective on the different people living here in the good ol USA. I agree the host's are a little douche like...I think the one has a little sugar in his tank. Really like Pawn stars, hooked on that one. The old man is great, one expression the whole time. |

I read the title and instantly thought it had to do with a man's commute into work and digging at his nose for treasure. But what you're saying the show is sounds much better. I'll have to check it out. I'm a sucker for all those type of shows. I'll even admit it, I still watch American Chopper not for the builds of course. Just the fake drama. Personally I like Swamp Loggers. |

Love American Pickers and Pawn Stars. I restore antique furniture part time. It is the perfect college job for me and the hours are extremely flexible. My boss and I find a garage full of stuff every spring on people's curbs. We've sold rocking chairs for $300 that we found in the trash. Don't ever throw an antique away, you never know what someone will pay for it! Last edited by 701 Technique; 01-21-2010 at 04:29 PM. |

I thought it was pretty cool. Kinda felt they took advantage of that really old guy though.. But he seemed happy with it I guess. Cool show, annoying guys.

Yeah...I agree on pawn starts, I watch that show every week. But I love diggin through pawn shops to see what I can find. I'm glad I'm not the only one that thinks the hosts from pickers probably do the poopchute boogie as soon as the camera's are turned off. Other than that I agree with the other comments, it would be a cool way to make a living and they do dig up some cool stuff. |
