video camera im looking to get into a decent video camera for recording crawler events and other events on top of taking photos, is this video camera a decent option if not point me in the right direction please. im looking to stay in the $350-$500 range for the camera alone not including editing software"thumbsup" http://www.adorama.com/SODCRSR68.html |
I've got the Flip. $130 at sams club, takes great video and you can take pics from the video when you upload it but its not the greatest quality. Go to www.youtube.com/bigorangecj6 to see videos all from the flip. |
Not sure on what you end up going with, but B & H is the best place to get it from. "thumbsup" http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...Camcorder.html |

I've been doing alot of research on camcorders lately. I'm no expert but here are my thoughts. Built in hard drive is great, flash memory is about 2x as expensive. The f1.8-6.0 Carl Zeiss lens is really good. .68Mp (Mega pixels) still picture resolution will result in ok pictures. They will be pretty grainy though. I think 1.5Mp is minimum for good pictures. The 1/8", .68Mp CCD sensor and the 3 lux minimum illumination means that if the sun is not shining on your subject, the resolution of your movie will drop pretty quickly. .34Mp video resolution will result in decent video. Not great. Here is one of my videos taken with my old Sony Handycam DCR-TRV250. It has a 1/6" CCD sensor which is a bit smaller and 4 lux minimum illumination. My video resolution is .29Mp. In the sun the video quality is decent but you can see quite a bit of pixelation. Expect the video quality of the SR68 to be only slightly better. <object width="425" height="344"> <embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/PyZoA4yBKT8&hl=en_US&fs=1&color1=0x234900&color2=0 x4e9e00" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></object> My dad has an old Sony DCR-PC120 which is .97Mp video resolution with a 1.5Mp CCD sensor and the video quality is quite a bit better. In the end it is a compromise between quality and cost, only you can decide how much a better quality video is worth. I have been very happy with the Sony Handycams overall though. They are very well made. |
found this one that is full hd, im just starting to venture into the video side of photography"thumbsup" |

I've been looking at the Canon Vixia HF-200 which is on sale for $519 right now. Maybe I should wait and save up a few more bones for the Sony? |
