| Wireless ISP ????'s
Ok here's the deal, where I live they don't have cable, nor does qwest offer DSL. All I can say is dial up sucks. I was lookin into wireless, my buddy suggested Digis networks. Seems ok at $25/month but $300 to set it up. I know most of you don't have to worry about this but I'm lookin for suggestions on wireless ISP's. Know any I might look into? There is only 2 in my phone book and they are higher $$ than Digis per month. Help I can't take this slow crap much longer. |

I herd that Direct Tv offers a satalite broadband connection for people that live out in the boondox........ I also herd it's mad expensive here in central florida.... Try to search "Satalite Broadband" as your key words and see what you come up with then.. I also had Direct Tv as my cable provider for about 4 months then quickly switched back to coaxle..... it seems everytime there were clouds we lost the signal Good Luck Mike |

I've been using wirless for almost 5 years now; used it when I worked for an ISP in Idaho when and my company I work for now uses it. It's always worked REALLY well in my experience. But I also live and work in a more urban area. A local ISP here offers it for rural areas and they have nothing but problems. But in Alaska, there's lots of mountains and other crap to overcome. If you live in a relatively flat area, you should be more than happy with it. ClearWire (http://www.clearwire.com) is a national ISP that's pushing wireless pretty hard around here. I hear that DTV sucks. As far as I know, DTV uses the satellite to download, but upload goes over your phone line. This is old info, so maybe that's changed. But BPC is right. Weather will affect your signal pretty bad with satellite. |

I live in the same town as KB and have clearwire also, and it works great and have had no problems yet and for $40 month it's close to cable and DSL here.

Have you looked into Verizon? I know Verizon offers wireless Internet. As far as I know, you have to buy one of their wireless cards and then activate it like a cell phone. Not sure on the prices though. |
