| Pine Wood Derby for Pack 407
So my son had his first pine wood derby tonight, and did pretty good. He came in 2nd in his den and got "Most Creative" award. Here are some pics His first race. His is the blue car. A better shot of the starting gate. Greyson and I watching his car get first. Greyson coming in 2nd in his den and getting his trophy. Ya, he was a little stoked. Greyson and I holding up our awards, I took 1st place in the "Geritol" class Greyson getting his "Most Creative" award. The cars and the awards. Greysons final record for the night was : 1st. 5 times 2nd. 4 times 3rd. 3 times 4th. 0 5th. 0 6th. 0 Each car ran in each lane 2 times. Over all he placed about 5th. We really had a blast. He is already talking about next year and I am thinking about building a track in the basement of our new house |

Cole, yes it is. He drew out what he wanted on the block of wood and I cut it out for him. He did all the sanding himself. |

There was a dentist and his kid busted at a comp here not all that long ago He gutted the car inside and then glued it back togather and made a small hole to open space inside and filled it with mercury or something like that so when it was set down from the back bumper to the track it just took off.He had it all smoothed out and everything. The only way he was busted was his son never lost so they finaly x rayed it and saw what they were doing.

Dude pine wood derby was the sh!t!. I remember doing that when i was a boy scout. Somethng i learned was to narrow the tires down thin and im pretty sure it will go faster.

Dang, memories.... My Dad used to be the cub master and we actually built and stored the track at our house, needless to say I got a lot of 'practice' runs (never helped) but one of the Dads in our group taught at the Air Force Academy and he had his class design and build an electronic finish line using light sensors and such; dang cool. |

It weighs 5 oz. also. I also have a truck, but I'm not sure where it is at the moment... Nina: Corporate accounts payable, Nina speaking. Just a moment. Gotta love Office Space. Last edited by Cubman; 01-22-2006 at 07:28 PM. |

I wonder if I still have my pinewood derby cars around somewhere... We drilled out a hole in the back of mine, and filled it with lead. It was still under the legal weight requirement, but it was a sleeper since you couldn't see any weights on the outside Last edited by Mad Scientist; 01-22-2006 at 07:36 PM. |
