Sign up for Tiger directs e-mail notification, they have great deals on laptops just about every week. I have bought quite a few notebooks and desktops from them over the years and had great service. |

Ways of saving some money when buying from Apple... 1. Refurbished website, but the deals don't last long as they change with the products they have on hand. 2. Flash your college student ID and they knock a couple hundred off. 3. Work for Toyota or a Toyota dealer, discount again! Do all 3 and you can get a great deal! |

While Apple hardware might be a bit nicer than most other laptops, I don't believe they are worth the cost. | |

You need to get what you can afford a like, go down to a bestbuy and try the apple then try the pc's, i have a toshiba A505-s6033 that best buy has that is perfect for me and cost of $900 for what you get in the pc realm is unbeatable. I do not personally own an apple but i use them all the time at school, from the cheaper $1000 laptops to the $3500 g4 macs their all in one desktops, everything. They are nice but i cant afford them, get what you like and suits your lifestyle. Here is top 9 brands of computers in reliability the link contains the chart. LINK! Note* these are percentage failure of at least 1000 laptops per brand. Asus=15.6% Toshiba=15.7% sony=16.8% apple=17.4% dell=18.3% lenovo=21.5% acer=23.3% gateway=23.5% hp=25.6% Its these figures why when ever i buy laptop from bestbuy i will always buy their accidental replacement plan. |

Jeremy, you miss one point... Lifetime usage. PC Laptops get old fast and become slow long before Apples. I work on Mac's for 2 lawyer firms. Both have Laptops and iMacs, all bought when the Intel chips hit...still running faster than most PC's at my work that are now going on 12-16 months old. |

| Sorry, but I've got PCs that last quite a long time. I finally had to retire my old desktop at the end of 2009....I bought it in December of 2000. I didnt retire it because of any mechanical failure or other type of problem....I simply needed more storage (still using the HD's though ). Even Apple updates their hardware often to keep up with software demands and their components become obsolete....there's no getting around that... BTW, the computers that I use at work are used in an extremely different manner than what I imagine is done at a lawyer's firm. The one I use daily is mainly for large computations (and RCC )....programs that require a LOT of memory to run. These programs handle large amounts of data as well (I typically look at multiple CT scans daily that are a few gigs each after processing). You wont find a single Mac in any offices like where I work....only Linux and PC. Last edited by JeremyH; 04-26-2010 at 03:12 PM. |
