reliable animal transportation?
 

has anyone ever had to transport a loving member of their family (dog) cross country? i dont want to stick my puppy (10 year old pit) in a create and put him on a plane to ship him from washington to AZ. if u have any good or bad experiences with a company please let me know.

a year ago when i moved to AZ i left my dog in washington with my mom. she has decided to pack up and sell her house but she is having a professional moving company mover her stuff while she fly's down.

You only have a few choices, IMO.
1) Crate on a plane for 5-6 hours
2) Crate on a bus for 5-6 DAYS
3) Go get him in your own car. Takes twice as long (for you anyway), but he can drool all over the back seat in air conditioned comfort on the way back.
4) Hire a professional pet mover. Probably the least stressful. With a 10yo, it'd be the best way to go if #3 isn't an option.

Some companies have a relay service. Can take longer, as your pet may be somewhere for a few days waiting for the next leg, but may be cheaper. My wife works with a local rescue (ALGBR) here in Phx, I'll ask her when she gets home.

Probably the easiest way is to just put your dog on a plane when your mom flys. Or even easier, get a new dog.

The plane trip is not as bad on them as you might think, at least mine never seemed to mind much. have your Mom see the Vet for some doggie downers... your not knocking him/her out... the effects are like a couple of stiff drinks"thumbsup"

my mom will be driving a small nissan and with have 3 other people in it so there will be no room for my puppy. i have Googled "cross country animal transports" and found a few companies but i dont know how legit they are. wondering if anyone has used this type of service.

I had some surgery and have been out of the game for a little while. Should be ready for prescott.
