My friend once drove a Fiat 131 mirafiori, but then he wanted to make it go faster. So he heart of this nitrous oxide stuff, so what did my friend do. 1: get big bottle of NOS probably stolen from a dentist. 2: put it on the floor behind seats ( not secured ) 3: route a copper pipe from the tank to the engine 4: stick end of copper pipe into carb 5: go for a drive, get to a decent speed, then reach behind the seat and open the valve. Resulting in something undefined and a Fiat car that came to a stop sort of on top of what remained of the engine block. |

For a brief time in my life, I assembled turbo expanders like that. Many were big enough that we had to climb inside (quite a bit bigger than the unit on that truck) to work on them, they make an unbelievable amount of noise at 50k+ rpm!

| Re: Cool Pictures It's not actually used for forced induction on an internal combustion engine. There's many variations of them (turbo expanders), they're often seen in oil fields, some smaller ones are used to power generators, larger ones are used to extract heavier hydrocarbons (propane/butane) from natural gas. Those ones use the high pressure (and rapid expansion) of natural gas, straight from the Earth, to spool them up. That one is shaped a bit different than what I'm used to, it might be used for refrigeration?

I have worked on house sized ship engines, and that there turbo dwarf anything i have seen. TBH i think it is a hoax. This is about as large as turbo as i have ever "worked" on, and by "work" i mean every day i had to flush the exhaust side with water to loosen scales, which was a breeze comparing to do the same way up in the exhaust stack, where it was so warm the 3 minutes or so it took to blow some green powder into the exhaust system ( also to loosen scales ) was more than enough and you hightailed it out of there. I will estimate the temperatures up there was 70 - 80 degrees, and thats damn hot even if you are just wearing shorts and a T-shirt as you cant work in overalls in a hot engine room as that just get soaked with sweat in 30 minutes. Do note in this pic the turbo are a little in the foreground Vs the 2 persons, so it appear even bigger than it is. https://www.zmescience.com/science/b...-engine-world/ How to fix.
