Out of the 57 tries to land on mars 27 have failed just over 50% its not a easy place to get to.

I've been having a slew of mid life deep thoughts lately. 12,000 more days left if I'm lucky, might as well make the most of em.

So is above as below. Our species has developed the ability to ask "why" and contemplate ideas, such as "why do we insist on contemplating ideas?". While life is not likely to be seldom, it seems that advanced life may be more rare. If another species had a few percent time jump on humans in our galaxy, it would stand to reason that we would have been snuffed out or contacted. More likely snuffed out by way of advanced competition. By extrapolation of feasable sub-light transportation speeds, we could infest the Milky Way in less than 4 million years. Current tech would still be less than a billion years to traverse the Galaxy. Enough time to go across and still have time to return to a strong burning sun and possibly habitable earth.

The direction of our own species seems a narrow duality if we continue asking questions and getting answers. We will either create intelligent robots that destroy us, or we will become entwined into technology so that WE become the robots. Either way will become a fork in our evolution. Time relation will change if we are released from these bodies, conscience will depend on energy gradient. Fusion scraps, fission emissions... fossil fuels... With infinite time becomes ultimate knowledge.

Ultimate knowledge does not like company! What is next? More ultimate knowledge? Yeah, gimme two of those.

In current news, to see properly when gravity bends our time space into a black hole, we would need 3 eyes. Maybe black holes inside those would need four eyes.

One day at a time. Might as well have fun doing it.

^ 32.8 years left ?? I hope that you have more than that, as long as they are meaningful.

Give or take. I'll be lucky to make 70, but who knows.

Meaningful life is the hope, but the notion becomes meaningless with too much thought. Life feeds on life, feeds on life, feeds on life. There is no goal beyond proliferation and death. Enlightenment is our distraction, our advanced directive. The conquest of enlightenment does not end the cycle , although the oldest philosophies believe it removes us from the wheel of life. So the point is to end the ability to ponder the point.

Snapping back to reality, even if there is no point, the mind isn't so easy to appease. If I could do nothing, I would drive myself insane. So for the remainder, might as well develop some new products and play more than I should.

Maybe because i am say average on the smarts spectrum but if you don't believe in Aliens or the best drugs ever created to think of that nonsense then i have nothing to add. How The F do you know about or can define a Type 1,2 or 3 civilization or what a great filter is if one has never existed in the past? Total HS if you ask me.

Been there not sure if we will ever be just a class 1 civilization.
And its damn scary to think if we are the smartest ones around, just imagine what the stupid ones out there will be able to do, hopefully those idiots will not stumble upon interstellar travel.

But i fear that latter is what others think about us.
