Realistically... what's a 1985 Haro Freestyler Sport worth? I plan to pick one up tomorrow and want to make sure I'm not wasting money. I know my 1977 Mongoose isn't worth too much. I know my friends '86 PK Ripper is worth some serious coin. I just haven't been able to find much on the Haro.....some but not much. |

I can't tell you what your Haro is worth, but I sold my 84 GT Pro Performer to a guy in Europe for $1k back in 2004. It was the 35 built, ever... |

1984 was the beginning of major manufacturers supporting freestyle (frames), before that it was guys like RL Osborne riding modified Kuwahara's. Is it chrome or painted? Red Line Flight cranks? Hutch Bear Traps? Skyways? Ahhhh, to be a kid again... Last edited by GySgt Hartman; 07-03-2010 at 11:22 PM. |

I sold my 93 dyno in 2008 double for what I paid for it new. With flat tires. I know down here in So Cal people pay top $$ for any old school BMX bikes. Good luck. |

Just picked it up and after getting it home for a closer look it appears it's a 1987 Haro Freestyler Sport. I need to clean it up as it's filthy still but it rides pretty smooth.

Ahhhh the good old days. I had a Laguna Eagle 101, worked an entire summer at the LBS to pay for it and then rode the hell out of it for several years. Wish I still had it, Laguna folded in the early 80's and their bikes are fairly rare compared to many others. |

So... it's needs work but rides fine. The wheels were almost black due to how filthy they were when I got it. The frame/forks have been painted and not too well. Lots of paint runs. I'm thinking about getting it blasted and chromed.... |

Nice looking bike Toyo. Brings back memories. I wouldnt chrome it though. Paint it, new matching tires, new pads & clean that weel, a front brake, & maybe a foam pad for the handle bar clamp and she'd be good to go. Man Ive so many I cant even remember them all but my fav was probably the Haro Super Sport dedicated to Nyquist the year after he came out. |

Look for something called Wesleys Bleche White for cleaning the wheels, I don't know if you can get it any more, but it's the only cleaner that works... Don't bother with chroming the frame, the metal finish of the later generations was meant only for paint (cost cutting). You would have to get the frame chemically stripped, polished/copper plated/polished/chrome plated, way too much cash! Strip it and have it powder coated Lime Green or Hot Pink and locate a NOS or repo sticker set. Check this forum out: http://bmxmuseum.com/forums/index.php

i'm pretty heavy into collecting os bmx bikes an 85 haro sport depending on parts and condition could go to $500.00 make sure its a sport not a fst cheaper version but look the same.. the economy has really hurt the collectors market. its about half money i would get two years ago also reproductions parts (fake crap) has really screw things up. post some pics i'll see i could give you a hand also i'm still in contact with os pro riders john dizz hick (cw) maurice drob meyers (skyway) i seen and bs with eddie fiola, greg hill, stu thompson, last year.. |

Sweet buy bro. Needs a little TLC, but that brings me back to Jr high. Let's see Lance ride that bad boy through France. |

| They say Skyway on them along with a patent number. Quote:
That's what I'm wondering... what is the difference between the Sport and a FST? Shouldn't there be some numbers stamped into the frame somewhere that would tell me what this thing is? Quote:
I know! I used to ride my bike everyday until I hit HS. I remember the days when a pack of 6-7 of us would ride the whole area looking for sweet jumps. Most of the adults then would just glare at use, especialy when we'd stop off at the store and have a stack of BMX bikes upside down next to the front door. Once I hit HS I moved onto the MTB scene but once HS was out I only used the bikes when I would go camping or a vacation.
