| think i am getting scammed
Well i am selling my full size truck and i recieved this email from someone wanting to use paypal for the purchase. i have heard of the people useing bad cashiers checks and money orders but i havent heard of them using paypal, what throws me off is i am asking 8000 for the truck and he wants to give 8500. any ways this is what i recieved, tell me what you think... Hello, Thanks for the quick response, i am buying this item as a birthday gift for dad and i am at sea at this moment as i am a marine engineer and due to the nature of my work, phone calls making and visiting of website are restricted but i squeezed out time to check this advert and send you an email regarding it. I really want the item to be a surprise for dad so i wont let him know anything about the item until it gets delivered to him , i am sure he will be more than happy with the item.I insisted on paypal because i don't have access to my bank account online as i don't have internet banking, but i can pay from my PayPal account, as i have my bank a/c attached to it, i will need you to give me your PayPal email address so i can make the payment as soon as possible for the item and pls if you don't have PayPal account yet,it is very easy to set up, go on www.paypal.com and get it set up ,after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address you use for registration with PayPal so as to put the money through.my dad have pick up agent that will come and pick the item up after i have made the payment. I would really like to come to see the item, but due to my work frame that would not be possible, I am a Marine engineer , I am now on the ship, but if you got the item pics. you can send to me to have a good look Note: I will pay you $8,500.00 for the item.Get back to me with your PayPal e-mail asap. Regards |

Just wait for the PayPal payment to clear before you do anything on your end.

Yeah, its a bs scam, I get those all the time when i put stuff up on Craigslist.... 1. No mention of the truck in the e-mail 2. No questions reguarding the truck. 3. Why would you pay more than you have too with out asking anyquestions? The truck could be a huge POS and they are willing to pay $500 more than what your asking.... Its a scam, dont give them your PP info. give them maybe a phone number and if they are compleatly serious about the purchase they can make a call to you! He is a marine engineer and cant give you a call and also that his work load prevents him from calling you or using the web, but yet somehow he e-maild you.......Here is your sign!. |

That looks excatly to what someone replied, to a phone that I was selling. I am sure that is not going to end up good. Do not give him your paypal address. I found out it was a scam because I called paypal and told me if my money had gone through, and they asked me what money.I told them the paypal address I was receiving from and they told me there was no such address. I got emails stating that I had received money but the strange thing was that they ended @paypal"....". Be cautious. |

Yeah, my spidey senses are tingling too, this guy says hes a marine engineer that is on a ship...right. I know the Navy / Marine Corps has OPSEC (operational security) porcedures but they have some of the best unclassified satelite internet uncle sam can acquire for them. If he has no online banking with his account how did he confirm it on paypal? Drop the deal bro, this guy is shady all over.

100% Scam! I got the exact same thing when I was selling my old motorcycle. They get your paypal info and start guessing passwords so they can empty your account. Believe it or not most people have easy passwords. Don't do it!
