Students get massive discounts on Mac laptops and iMacs...

Just how good of a discount?? My wife is in nursing school right now and we've been tossing the idea around about getting her a new laptop. And I've been eying the macs, but they are just SOOOO damn expensive.

I'm on my iPad every night on here;-) If all you are doing is surfing the web this is where it's at! I use my iPad 10x's more than my laptop now. It's stupid fast, easy to use, no virus probs, 10+ hour battery. If it had a flash player I would be happy. If you need one for more than the web then don't get one.

MASSIVE I DOUBT but yeah, where??

Massive? Students that show valid student ID and proof of going to a real college/university get about $100-$150 off. I think we got about $125 off on ours.

If it was me, I'd get a refurbished Mac. Save some money and typically get a better setup computer. They carry the same warranty as a new unit and they ship fast!

to bad macs will never have a flash player... thats the one and only downside to mac... and that is the only reason why the droid will be number 1 for phone.

Knife, yes you can use a eraser with the iPad"thumbsup" It is touch screen with a full qwerty board that is about 8"x4" I would guess. It is Very easy to use! For you I think it would be perfect! Again that's if you need it for surfing the web. It can do everything the iPhone can do just without a camera. It has all the apps, a book store you can get books and magazines and news papers, plays movies and you can hook it up to your TV, MP3 player, games, photo album, it has a camera card connection kit you can get for it to load your picts from your camera on it, you can get a external keyboard for it to. And more!

Like I said, I love mine and almost never use my laptop anymore. I can take this everywhere easy and everywhere has wifi now. You can get the new iPad that is 3G. $30 a month and you can use it anywhere to get online like a phone;-) They come in 16g, 32g and 64g. Just check out Apples site and read up on it. Another plus is it's a Mac, no worries over getting a bug and crashing your computer!"thumbsup" Oh! And you can watch porn for free now!"thumbsup":ror:

Stop the lies...Mac's run Flash faster than PC's...

Now yes the iPhone and iPad's can not currently run flash. However neither could the Android OS for a long time. Apple has concerns with Flash on mobile and is likely trying to get something better done be it in house or with Adobe.

My father in-law recently(April I think) got a 24" iMac for $900 as a refurbished unit. Not only is it bigger than mine but faster, and much more power inside. We got ours back in early 2008 and bought new..... I'll never buy a new one again unless I have a special reason.

The refurbished program through Apple is great. Only downfall is you have to keep watching it as the deals are gone as fast as they show up. It's like a "Buy it now" auction.

You might want to double check but good luck running most CAD programs on a MAC without running a windows system in the background.

For engineering, PC is the standard.

Is the school recommeding the Mac? I do all my cad and cam on a PC and as Harley said the PC is standard for the industry. Plus you can get a PC for less money.

OK first of all the reason i cant use school computers is cause the lab is on campus and you don't understand getting to school by bus and in a wheelchair is almost impossible, truthfully i don't even know if im going to be able to go again this semester, dealing with snow alone is impossible...
The bus driver wont even unlock my front door for me, sucks.
See I have nurse here from 6-9 in am, 4/6 in pm, then 10-12pm shower etc. 8hrs a day arent even mine. sucks

I used to have family/friends/girlfriend that would drop me off but just going to hr class usually takes 5-6hrs sometrimes so im not sure whats up....Working on my business's now so well see.

So anyways were thinking of putting auto-cad on my old crappy hp laptop then i could take it and who cares it gets beat up(stolen), then my buddy said come home and plug into big samsung monitor wall mounted(DOPE), then get either desktop or 17" mcpro for my new fun play computer/OR ipad........DAMMIT Why's everything gotta be so hard......
