That thing was freaking huge!! I remember when I was in high school my buddies neighbor plowed up a 10' Rattle snake while he was clearing some brush in Rural San Diego. The snake in that picture must have been closer to 12'. |

Hmmm, seems like an easy Photochop If it's real, it's a shame they killed it. |

The guy said he heard the rattle, looked and just shot it real quick. Guess he was close because he shot it with a shotgun! I have to say I would have done the same with one that big! | ||

Wow, that is a monster... Normally I'd say live and let live, but perhaps killing it wasn't a bad idea... Rattle snakes really aren't that difficult to deal with, they really aren't interested in biting anything they can't eat. Its when you surprise one is when you have problems, just make plenty of noise and they'll normally get out of your way... It is not uncommon for us to come across them at comps down here in S.D. For the most part, they know we are there, we know the snake is there and we have no problems, the snake either leaves or stays put where it feels safe. During one comp we had a rattler sun itself just a couple of feet from a gate, luckily not a difficult gate, it just sat there, watched the trucks go by, eventually it got bored and went back into the rocks. My dad lives out in Death Valley, he keeps rattlers out of his yard with moth-balls, he says they hate the smell... Last edited by Greatscott; 08-22-2010 at 04:26 PM. |

Man I didn't even know rattlesnakes could get that big. All the rattlers I stumbled across were a fraction of the size of that one. Never know when you'll need a firearm. |

thats some good eating right there. used to go snake hunting down here in texas, i used to jump in the creeks and ponds with nothing but a stick and my hands. water moccasin taste just like frog, cook it over and open flame and the meat peels right off. i used to have a baby water moccasin as a pet, i would hold it in my hands and never have been bitten YET.
